  1. I am sure he is as proud as could be and so should you! Great job!
  2. Simple, elegant and rides high. I like it! Could we see the knife as well?
  3. I am no pro by any ANY standards when it comes to stamping and carving, but I kinda like the more subdued stamping. It is there, it is elegant, you can definitely see it, but it doesn't detract from the weapon but rather suits it. I think if I made that, that is how I would want the stamping done. Just my opinion. My opinion and 12 bucks will get you a hamburger.
  4. Excellent recycling of old military stuff! Love your craftsmanship and forward thinking!
  5. Forgive me, but the back view looks like an old military rifle sling. Is that possibly so? Really like the projects! Form and function over fancy!!
  6. Man, you did score great!! That is the nicest shoe shine kit I have ever seen. That is a unique box! You are going to love that stone. I love natural stones for sharpening butcher knives. Just nothing like them.
  7. Really excited to see your work! If you are able to come up with a pattern would you mind sharing it with me? I am too new at this to make my own patterns well but I still keep trying and learning. I would like one for my Ruger New Model Vaquero in 45 Colt.
  8. A Smith 58. It is an N frame double action with fixed sights in 41 Magnum. 4 inch barrel.
  9. Absolutely love it!!! The lines flow so cleanly and the entire holster is laid out like a work of art. If that came to me it would be my last holster because I would never carry anything else. If imitation is the greatest form of flattery then consider yourself flattered in about two weeks. I am going to try to copy that but I am sure I will fall short. Great job!!!!
  10. I can imagine exactly what you are saying. What a great person to supply your patterns! Thank you so much!
  11. Awesome structure of the holster! I bet it carries very tight to the body.
  12. Very elegant. Can you tell us a little about the knife? Brand, length, steel, etc?
  13. Thank you all for your thoughts. I usually leave this revolver and rig at the ranch for use out there and carry it a lot more than shoot it. It usually doesn't get wet and is stored inside with the other firearms. I like to go into the dense brush after Agarita berries in the summer and this is my favorite wild hog medicine. Ruger Blackhawk stainless in 45 Colt 7 1/2 inch barrel. RCBS 45-270-SAA loaded to 1100 fps (Ruger only level II). Cast fairly soft (half lead, half wheel weights, air cooled) they are deadly and I have yet to recover a bullet from any size hog. I have probably taken around 50 of them with this load. I will clean the cartridges that are tarnished and use them this weekend, then the brass will be put in the tumbler for reloading. I will leave the belt empty during storage.
  14. Long story short.... Made a veg tan gunbelt with cartridge loops. Used saddle soap to condition it. Cartridges that sit in the belt more than a couple weeks are growing green stuff on em. It wipes off easy enough but tarnishes the brass and they aren't pretty anymore. Any way to stop this? Or do I just need to shoot more to rotate out my cartridges?
  15. A classic Slim Jim. I like them. If I think I will need the weapon in a hurry, I will unsnap the retention strap and tuck it back into my pants using the holster as an open top. One thing I did and this is only a personal opinion is I quit cutting low around the trigger. I ride tractors and farm equipment a lot while carrying a single action and find without the trigger cut in the holster the weapon rides a bit tighter in the leather. A wonderful piece. You really should be proud!
  16. Love the antique look. I like a holster that looks like it has seen use. Only thing I would suggest, and this is from years as a LEO, eventually you will want to move that retention strap away from your grip. For general field use it is ok where it is, but for quick service, a retention strap under your hand is going to make you shift your grip before using the weapon. Great job on your first ones. My first one is so ugly I threw it in a box and started over.
  17. Would you consider selling the black one? Dibs!
