  1. Love it. That rig compliments that Smith well. See if you can find some nickel plated rounds to match the stainless of the weapon and the concho on the holster. My clothes may not match and my paint on my house is nothing special, but I match my handgun rigs well. LOL.
  2. I appreciate the response. Like you, I am a sharpening fanatic. I don't do commercial sharpening, but rather sharpening for 6 households. From lawnmower blades to pocket knives I sharpen it all and during hunting season run my own private butcher shop making everything from aged beef to deer sausage. Thusly, my knives are important tools to me and I love each and every one. Even the cheapest knives have a place in my life cutting hay string or as "loaners". My absolute passion is my processing knives and kitchen knives. And I am always looking to pick up a new trick or skill to make them sharper and work better.
  3. I would like to also see something about kitchen and butcher knives. Having a dull kitchen knife is akin to a dull head knife. Useless, dangerous and frustrating. And we all need to do something with that delicious meat that used to be wrapped in the skins we use! Since an edge is the intersection of two "planes", we could call it "The Plane Truth". LOL.
  4. I went to a local plastics supplier and for 50.00, they cut me a sheet of LDPE to perfectly fit my kitchen table. I use C-clamps to hold it in place. For rulers, I use everything my wife has for quilting plus a 3/8 inch thick piece of carbon steel 3 inches wide and 4 foot long. A rotary cutter blade will flatten against it and cuts very clean.
  5. Wonderful ideas. If there was a thumb break holster I bet I, um, "my friend" could come up with a little cash or trade goods in the next couple months. LOL! Beautiful work. I am going to have to change my username to "Snubbyfan fan"!
  6. Wonderful work! May I ask... What are those two extremely high brass black plastic shotshells in the bottom of the bag? Those are some I have never seen before.
  7. Are you going to do a thumb break on the 5906? I only ask cause this uh, "friend" of mine, uh "might" own one and doesn't have a holster. Yet. LOL!
  8. No one here flamed me for my first attempts. And if they didn't get too harsh on my junk, you are pretty safe. LOL! Folks here are honest and real. As in Honestly Helpful and Real Nice. Don't be skeerd, you do nice work for starting out. Love the holster!
  9. Lets see... From my current skill level if I improved double every two years, I will be as good as you in about......135 years. Everything you posted is awesome, like others I really like that Utah belt.
  10. There is an intentionally mis-tied knot in every Persian rug. Flaws give character. At least that is what I tell myself when I critique one of my projects.
  11. Braid several strands for a primitive bow string. Lots of uses in primitive arts projects. Sinew was THE thing to use for surgical stitching in days past.
  12. Beautiful. And nothing sleeps like a home made quilt. It is like being hugged all night.
  13. That is the greatest piece of art I have ever seen outside the Louvre. If you don't mind me asking, what would a rig like that run? (Not that I can afford it, just curious.)
  14. Is there a "Drool" emoticon? I need one. Fricken LOVE it!
  15. Thank you. Buying quality is my main goal. I don't need much of anything other than edge finishing tools really. I am looking to spend around 100 bucks on specific tools then learn to use what I have.
  16. Beautiful contrast of the different leathers. Wish I had it. And the pistol it goes to. LOL!
  17. Love the artwork with the service ribbon. Great job! Yall gonna make me up my game!
  18. My Mother was born tomorrow somewhere around 1700 hours. It will be quite the time down in Cowtown! Happy new year to all and to all a long night!
  19. Thank yall. That is some of the information I was looking for. If it wont shave, it is too dull. When you can hear the leather being cut, it is too dull. Sounds like I actually have this one to just a good working edge. Now maintaining it may be a different story, but none of my butcher knives "sing" when they come off the strop, so I will lay a bet this one is some superior steel. Now I just have to figure out sharpening the gouges, punches and what not. I am sure what I bought are mostly good tools, this guy just didn't do any sharpening. A little maintenance and I should be right as rain.
