  1. Not sure if that's a misprint or not. Think I'll call them tomorrow and clarify. Appreciate the responses.
  2. So would this be a no go for smaller holsters? Assumed it would work because it's 7/8 oz.
  3. Here's the website. It's from maverick and it's on sale now. http://maverickleathercompany.com/product/carving-calf/ down from 120 bucks. It's on sale. Hope someone knows before the sale ends. Never tried HO or WC. Really don't want my first experience with either to ruin any future opinions of their leathers.
  4. Curious if this is a good buy or not. I don't know a thing about the pricing for leather. From what I've read I'm assuming calf is better because of the time out in pasture or wherever. Less scratches? Less bites?
  5. Nice work! What oz leather did you use? Was thinking 7/8 oz might too be heavy for this type of project but idk.
  6. Sorry for your loss. That's absolutely beautiful work!
  7. Thanks man. Wish I'd done a little differently at the trigger guard. Don't like the stitching line
  8. What do you use to edge with? I'm sure there's a market for kits. Especially if you have it online. People like the satisfaction of "making" it themselves even tho the hardest part of the job is done.
  9. And a burnisher/slicker, saddle soap, maybe a stitching pony, and a protectant. But honestly if they don't work with with leather they'll never know about any of those things unless they do research. I have had a couple ppl ask me if it's cheaper to leave the raw edge. Lol. Just tell em I don't do that
  10. Think everyone has a different approach. I use water then saddle soap then burnish and dye when dry.
  11. Good job. His edges are better than some I've done. Tell him to keep the good work.
  12. @Sofaspud thank you sir. Might would work better for me if it was an iwb appendix carry. Just so everything would be right there... But... I'm no big fan of a muzzle nowhere in that area.
  13. Update on this project. The air soft came in. Barrel length was short by 1/8". Frame height was off 3/16". Wouldn't work. Was able to get the pistol from him Friday and got him a holster. Looked a kid in a candy store when he received it. I see several flaws but to each his own. It's a booger because of the somewhat triangular barrel and all the ribs on the slide.
  14. @Lizardo could be on to something there! Thanks.
  15. Happy Easter to everyone! It's not all about bunny rabbits or candy or hiding eggs. Remember the real reason for Easter. May God bless each of you. Not sure sure if this allowed in this section or not. Or at all but if it's not a mod can move it.
  16. That means a lot of folks are busy trying to perfect their skills. Me included. ( tried the little laughing dude. Didn't work ). We all appreciate it!!
  17. @1836 Leatherworks Thanks! A die would definitely help cut time. Wish I could raise the price some but round these parts nobody wants to pay for anything. And then they wanna see if they can get a low price even lower. Guess I should raise it some so I could allow some leeway, but I rarely budge once I name a price. If they want it they get it. If not I keep it.
  18. They've been a pretty good success at work. Several of the guys wants one to keep their keys on. Charging $20 for a 3.59 clip plus 20 sq inches of leather. Granted not making anything on time because I hand stitch but it tskes less than 2 hours per piece.
  19. Appreciate it @byggyns. I ordered an air soft. Said 1:1 scale so I guess I'll check specs and see how close they are. A little tolerance would be ok but not too much.
  20. @Sanch appreciate it but credit to Jeff @JLSleather. @alpha2 you might be right! Never know! Wouldn't it be something if the next ppl that call wanting one, asks for one specifically with the "textured" design.
  21. Here's the back. Wife hasn't dropped it off at my moms yet. It's for her husband.
  22. @JLSleather I asked home the same question! Is exact words "I can always swap hands to pull the mag and one less thing to keep up with". Like to see the speed of his hands. Color is just a medium brown by feibling. Went over it a couple times to darken it up. And nope, no laser. Haha. You seen that too.
  23. @MikeG thanks! I wore the holster and drew the gun a few times. No problem. I was afraid the front sight would wanna grab the mag but due to natural muscle control, when drawing the weapon, the barrel end and front sight tends to roll back as the hand starts forward so it clears with plenty of distance. If that makes sense. The original design is by Jeff. Just had to add the mag pouch in there. Does Walmart sell the black and decker bags? I really don't like the rough sided foodsaver brand.
  24. It has excellent retention. Both mags loaded (empty barrel) the gun nor mag will not fall out when upside and shook rather vigorously. I should've took a back pic but it's found its new home already. The back has "divots" from using a foodsaver to do the vacuuming. He likes it. Says it'll grip better. Idk about that but... Wish I could find some rolls for the foodsaver that doesn't have the divots.
