  1. Not a bad looking site. If the instructions are as good as you say, then I think it’s worth paying for the patterns. Thanks.
  2. I’m sure if he paid for the pattern the seller would be happy that he advertised where he got it from to sell to others?
  3. When the mistake was made, I took your way of thinking especially when I didnt have his waist size at the time. Thats a mistake also!
  4. Wow! Thats a good catch. That was actually a mistake. I was making 4 belts at a time to save time cost and I had made a template for keeping the oval punch straight, I positioned it wrong on the second belt (too far to the tip) so i had to do the same to the first to even them up! Thanks for the helpful critique.
  5. Thats great, thanks for that. What i have looks a little heavier than the web site but very similar. I’m sure I can iron it on from the back using a fabric and then covering it with another piece of leather... Some times adding just a little bit of stiffness to the leather is enough.
  6. Very nice! That must have taken you a while? Nice leather too. I like the design also, is it your own?
  7. It’s all coming together nicely and beautiful work as always. Stitching looks great too.
  8. Fantastic looking holster! Love the col;our combination. Are you using a twin needle machine for the stitching?
  9. And how is yours applied? If you can give me as much information as possible I’d appreciate it? The material I have is less than 1mm thick. Looks like it would be a great addition to leather bag making. I can’t find much on google about it. I also know a lot of people improvise with other materials and maybe they’d like to know more also. Thanks.
  10. for the oooh and awww. Thanks. I only followed other leather workers process in their videos... I creased first, beveled the edge and burnished well with water and then applied the dye. Finished the edge with gum trag. Oh if interested, I used a wooden creaser for the line. I have other creasers but this wooden one does a nice impression too. Yes I skived the end from the buckle to about 1mm thick. https://goo.gl/images/91gkLw
  11. Hi, I purchased some leather from a shoe factory yesterday and the guy threw in this bag stiffener and said you iron it to the back side of the leather. It is quite flexible now but he said it stiffens more when ironed. Has anyone seen it before? Sheet size is 101cm x 144cm, it has fibre feelto one side and shiny plastic tho the other.
  12. Thank you. You’re an great source for information!
  13. I thought it was a type of leather like a suede or nubuck. So, is there a leather like nubuck called saddle leather?
  14. Anyone know what leather saddleback leather is made from ?
  15. Looks great! Did you make it for someone? Did you have a pattern or make your own?
  16. Thanks. All the belts I make have that stitch design ( I’ve made around 20 so far) I feel like it’s my signature design... even though I didn’t design it. I’m happy enough that the owner knows it’s there. The only problem I see is I should move the design up a little toward the buckle to catch the end of the strap better. I don’t know why I didn’t see that before? Thanks again.
  17. Thank you. I knew I was taking a chance before I dyed it but I had a really good shiny slick to the edge I also angled the dauber to the front side of the belt. I then used Gum Trag to finish off. I’ve never left the back of a belt unfinished before, I wonder if there’s a downside to it?
  18. Well, you all have certainly cheered me up to no end. Thank you all for your great comments. Ye are a great bunch of leather workers! Cheers.
  19. Wow! Double credit from you? Thanks! (Even if it was a mistake) I like that one! And I might use it too. Thanks.
  20. Well... You just go for it! Don’t let that sucker beat you. show us a pic when kill it? Thanks.
  21. You have to be fast tb beat Mutt! About copying the stitching pattern... I think there might be a copyright issue? I should ask the guy I stole it from. Thanks!
