carl, if you look at the bottom of the page you will see a drop down menu on the left side (little orange RSS button then the dropdown) that says "leather" if you change that to "ipb default" it will be a white background instead of the "tan"...if this is your preference for viewing the site.. i THINK there's a way to make this your default...but...well...i'm having a bit of trouble finding that setting....i'll get back to you if i find it

anyone given her a link to this forum yet?...don't be afraid to plug! Edit: actually...i just sent her an email inviting her to join our community...we'll see what happens eh? .

like i've said once or twice here...i don't know squat about leather...but i know one or two things about bike seats...and decorations of any kind on the underside...is well...almost unheard of...it shows a true dedication to your craft...and utmost respect for the product you are creating...spending extra time on a portion of the product that is "rarely" seen deffinitely adds to the value....really nice stuff!

bruce, give this thread a read on how to add pictures into your posts

i'm not a leather worker...but..seems like your sis was just wanting to show of a bit...i'm a metal sculptor (at least i'd like to be...but i don't have all the equipment i need to do it right)...and my mom was/is a clay type sculptor...i made this nifty metal hand for her to put her keys on...took me about 2 days to get right...and i asked her for help with positioning tips etc....she made a hand in about 20 minutes out of clay...that looked like it was a casting of a real one... i handed her some tinsnips and some sheet metal and told her to try that again....obviously...she couldn't do it...but by exagerating the difference in media to her...she was able to see what i was really asking for...and the next time she took her time explaining positions and steps and what to look for in natural positions etc... maybe if you "nock her down a peg" by throwing a piece of leather and a knife down on the table...she might take a step or two back next time you ask for help

the IPB board (at least in this form) doesn't support HTML posts......you can however...attach the html files (which now that i'm actually reading what you said....is what you want to do)

if it's an HP all in one...there should be an icon in the system tray for the printer (near the clock)...you can right click on that and choose the settings menu....check all your scan settings...i've had a few at work that will just forget where they're scanning to

that's a wonderfull phenomenon..and it's pretty common place now adays....people forget that before cows where behind nifty little fences on the side of the road..the were running wild...and at some point in our evolutionairy history...we didn't cook them before we ate them... i had a cousin at one point who LOVED and i mean absolutely LOVED deer sausage...she would eat it at every meal if it was available...so one day her dad and brother decided to take her hunting...they shot a buck..she didn't so it was time to clean the beast... "you...you mean...THIS is where my sausage comes from?...i thought they GREW the dear like cows!!!"...uh yeah christie...they plant little deer seeds in a feild...wait a few months and out sprouts some sausage.... she never ate deer sausage (or any other deer meet) again....unless we didn't tell her that the food had deer in it in which case she would always rave about how good the meat tasted and wondered what kind of cow it came from

i know that's not the spirit of this topic but i agree with this statement...at one of the other forums that me and johanna frequent...the live chat feature is HEAVILY used for quick question and answers. i could see it getting used here as a sort of "seminar" place as well as a quick "how the heck to i get these snaps on there" kind of things. another feature of the ipb board that most people overlook is the calendar function...users can add their own events to the calendar for scheduling and just general orginizational stuff...there could possibly (with enough interest) be a good method for scheduling chat tutorials etc... via that calendar and live chat functions...i.e. schedule a time for a "class" in the calendar, then make a post reminding people about the chat class...

i'm not a leatherworker...but i have been to a slaughter house...(a school field trip that i wish i could have skipped)...the animals are dead within 10 feet of entering the building...it's the first thing they do... has anyone ever tried to skin a live animal?...i haven't but i would imagine that they might protest a little... i have been to an aligator farm as well...i didn't see any mistreatment...sure there were more aligators in the water than there normally would be in an area that size....but..the water was filtered and refreshed daily... it's a known fact that global warming is caused by the hot air escaping from the member's of cowsarecool.com heads mixing with the patchouli and sandalwood given off by the pores of hippies...

any chance of asking the seller? I'm leaning towards some form of medieval torture device........or possibly some oddly actuated shears? it's hard to tell what's a shadow/reflection in that pic.. (P.S. don't let ScHwErV see that thing....looks like something he might want to use at the other forum)

Interactive demonstrations via chat technology?
dsenette replied to Brigid's Forge's topic in Feedback and Suggestions
just for my 2 cents on this...i agree...thre's nothing to writing up a tutorial or article or anything...as long as you've got the skills to back it up (which i know you guys do)....the difference here (and in the magazines it's the same) is formatting and consistancy...we would like for it to look proffessional...not just like a bunch of steps thrown into a pot....now...like i said...you guys probably won't have to worry about the formatting...me and johanna can take care of that...i'm just saying.... -
that's extremely nifty...and thoroughly marketable! good job!

as a note on gmail....i've got QUITE a few invitations....if you want a gmail account pm me

Interactive demonstrations via chat technology?
dsenette replied to Brigid's Forge's topic in Feedback and Suggestions
romey...i'm sure i speak for admin when i say this...if you'd like to make your tutorial either in a PM or maybe...if you would like to post it in this thread (as if you were starting a new thread) i'm sure we'd be able to review it and maybe make formatting suggestions and what not...that way...maybe we can kind of get started with a tutorial section here....for...somewhat static tutorials... -
