johanna's caught a specific disease known as "tinkeritis"....it's something that can be contracted when you come in close contact with the management interface of a forum like this....unfortunately...there's no cure....so we might have to put her down... anyone got a shotgun?

who doesn't? hehe that t-rex is just fun...and the boy obviously agrees with me

press the prt scrn (or prnt or print or whatever your keyboard says) button, then open something like paint (or any other drawing or image creation software) and then paste (either with ctrl + V or from the edit menu depending on the destination program) this should paste the screen shot into that program

the thumbnail deal is weird...i've never seen that...granted i'm rarely on a forum without being signed in....looks like a permissions issue...we'll take a look for iespell...i don't know why it's asking y ou to install it...i've never seen that either but http://www.iespell.com/download.php it's located there if you want to get it

as far as taste is concerned...is yak anything like buffalo? i'm a BIG fan of buffalo....unfortunately (for me anyway) it's difficult to find resteraunts that actually do buffalo any other way than as a burger...and the ones that do buffalo burgers tend to do it for show...and not because it's a high quality meat product so the burgers aren't as tasty as they could be

i know i'm a heathen but i usually don't marinade steaks when imake them....i just do some salt and pepper...i do make one marinade that my girlfriend absolutely loves (i think it's pretty good too)...it's pretty easy too....just mustard (don't ask me why....but it works)...usually a good coarse ground mustard or a dijon or that jack daniels mustard..i've used creole mustard before...and that was good too...just don't use yellow mustard...that stuff is trash...some melted butter (margarine works) and a healthy dose of worstenchesterchistershire sauce (i don't even feel like trying to look up how to spell the right word so i just try to stretch it out as long as possible....lee and perrins fellahs...lee and perrins)....just mix that up and throw it in a ziplock with the meat...it cooks up nice...and the mustard doesn't "charcoalize" as badly as most of the "sweet marrinades" (i don't like charred anything)

making a light box to trace patterns
dsenette replied to Dragons Pearl's topic in Patterns and Templates
for a 2 foot box...1 of those 18 inch lights should do well..but two would cut down on dark spots in the box (and thereby cut down on tinfoil usage...)....i'd use frosted plexi..you want the light to be diffused within the box...if you use clear plexi then teh light won't spread out as well -
making a light box to trace patterns
dsenette replied to Dragons Pearl's topic in Patterns and Templates
the last light box i made was pretty much exactly what you described...two short fluorescent tubes on either side of the inside...with a 2X4 perimeter and some white plastic stuff i got from somewhere (frosted plexi would have been better)...i just put a rabbit (surely that's not how carpenters spell it?) about 1/4" inch down from the top on the 2x4's to slide the plastic in...i don't recall having any heat problems...flourecents usually stay pretty cool...you could go super snazzy and wire up some leds...but that would be rediculous -
hehe i like how the term "new" is used so loosely around here.... I love large machinerery and power tools like that...especially the old ones....look at a circular saw from the 40's or 50's (or even the 60's) then look at a modern one...the old ones always look more dangerous and cool

....if you like zatarain's...you should try out tony chachere's....i put that stuff on everything....great on popcorn

alright....i know that "agreement" isn't something that leather folk do every day....but i know most of us can agree that there's not much better than a REALLY good steak... where did you get the best steak you've ever had...and why was it the best? if you cooked it...tell us how we can also achieve carnivorous nirvana in our own homes! i've actually got 3 "best steaks ever". the "absolute best steak i've ever put in my mouth", the "best repeatable steak ever" and the "best steak at the lowest price" the first, was a steak that i got at the bennigan's resteraunt on Ambassador Caffery road in Lafayette Louisiana (on august 27th 2000....yeah...it was that good)....this steak was what caused me to coin the term "steak-gasmic" (and the subsequent "steak-gasm")....it was about 1.5" to 2" thick sirloin...and they didn't screw with it...salt, pepper, and a judicious application of heat...it was PERFECTLY medium rare...warm in the middle but still bloody like it should be...the thing MUST'VE been cooked by angels or something...i swear i heard harps playing every time i took a bite...people were talking to me and i didn't hear a word they were saying...i just kept taking bites and closing my eyes while i enjoyed it...i mean this was a great GREAT steak...however....that was THE ONLY time i ever got a steak like that at bennigan's (at any bennigans)...and frankly..nothing i ever ate there actually tasted good other than that steak (hell...even the mashed potatoes that came with "THE steak" were crappy).. the best repeatable steak comes from connor's steak and seafood....those guys know how to make a steak...perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked (plus the sides are great as well)...they use really high quality beef and they don't mess with it...i'm partial to their new york strip...but they're all good the best steak at the lowest price was at nassau's bar and grill in plymouth michigan (who are we kidding...plymouth isn't a town...it's detroit people...get over yourselves)....it's called the "tony" (the owner apparently loves the sopranos...)...a sirloin with a little olive oil...some pepper...some salt...and "secret spices"....absolutely perfect...and the meal was about $8 bucks (if memory serves me correctly)...it was absolutely perfect...in fact everything that resteraunt makes is perfect....especially their jack and coke

after the update it was decided to just offer the one option for the "mocha" skin. "we" feel that it fits better with the theme (leather don't come out blue naturally does it?) and generally suits the site a little better than the other options. it's not TERRIBLY difficult for us to offer different skins, but the extra effort that it would require doesn't seem to be necessary at the moment. i'm sure if there were some pressing need to offer more than one skin that we could discuss our options...but at the moment it doesn't seem to be a needed expenditure of energy

in the IT world we might reference that as a PEBKAC error (Problem exists between keyboard and computer)

looks like it might be a problem with YOUR firefox....mine worked fine and so did johanna's do y ou have any add on's installed? (they could be blocking the menu...haven't seen it happen but anything's possible right?)

i'm not a leather person...but...i do know wood...and i'd like to see if my theory is correct... at the lumber yard when you buy a 2X4...you're really buying (roughly) a 1 15/16' by almost 4'...this is because of the width of the blade used in the milling process i wonder (and this is theory) if the "belt blank" industry does this in reverse...adding an extra 16th to account for possible shrinkage (possibly from whatever process you'll be doing on the belt when you get it) or to allow for some customizations and things? or possibly it's a function of the stamping process (i'd imagine that these are die stamped blanks made in mass production)...like...if they tried to stamp exactly at 2" the flex of the leather would end up giving you less than 2"...or maybe their die IS set at exactly 2" but the afore mentioned flex accounts for the extra material being left behind? all theory and conjecture...disregard everything if it's wrong

i'm the same way with my metal sculptures....i hate every one that i've ever made...there's always something wrong or something i don't like...but the people who have them now love them and can't see the crap that i think sucks about them....i've been able to turn my "brain off" once i get to the stage where i'm finished with something...that way i'm able to accept compliments without doing the whole "what...that thing sucks!" deal

being a geek...i saw HD and assumed you got a new hard drive unfortunately you went with the harley instead never been a big fan of the harleys (i should probably go find a dark place to hide now right?) more of a crotch rocket/from the ground up custum kind of guy

you ain't gettin any where near my but with any tools the more i keep looking at stuff posted here (especially the bike seats)...the more glad i am that you can't really reacreate those colors in a tattoo....that particular design would look great as ink as well as the seat...but it would look best with that particular finish...i think it adds to the design alot

i too am a big fan of japanese style prints (like the koi etc)...that one's really nice...speaking from an art standard...not a leather standard as i've got no basis for critiquing such things as far as a japanese koi goes you've got the lines and the proportions right....i tend to like the big fat head koi that look best as tattoos...and that one's got a "gert noggin on im"..i like it also nice work on the waves....sometimes the japanese waves can get some pretty funky lines and things in them...and can look really wonky when you draw them incorrectly...you got the proportions right on those as well
