dbarleather, Are you suggesting I wet the entire belt & if so @ what point. I've found that water will discolor & the leather will not take the dye, sealer or finish coat the same way. Am I doing something wrong?

On holsters I can dampen but not on belts. I'll just have to get a bigger mallet.

At what point do your guys/gals apply your "makers mark" ? I purchased one from Brenda & rec'd it today. Tried it out on several belts & I must say her work is great but to get a crisp & clear imprint you have to really wack it one. When is the best time to stamp it for a nice clear imprint?

belt for a customer
ABC3 replied to flyingcuda's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Sorry for the play on words. I just meant that a 2" belt in todays society in considered a WIDE belt. And thus I refered to it as a strap. Not too many belt loops, that I am aware of, will accommodate a 2" belt. But again, the customer is always right. -

A 2inch belt is really a strap - but the customer is always right. -
gun molds for holster makers

Rick, What Blue Gun are you looking for. If I have it - I'll loan it out for a week @ no charge. This maybe another ave to take. You break it in a press & you replace it. Otherwise use it & return it. If it is not returned it's "Black Ball" time. Anyway, just an idea. -
I'm out of the Atlanta area but I think it a great idea & not only for the Gulf Coast, although I would drive to join in. Regis made it a point to stop by (when he came through Atlanta) & give me a few do's & dont's when I first started. And it really helped me to get a start on the right foot. Again, a great idea & a very good possible sharing / learning experience.

Nice looking belt. Those double thick bull hide / horse belts will last for years. -
Randy, what a great looking shop. I would die for room like that. Congrats.....

Regis, Is your needle installed properly?

I know the information, I'm looking for, is here, someplace but after an hour of searching I still cannot find it. I have a Tandy manual embosser. My question is at what point do you run the belt through the machine & what should I do or not do before embossing. The belt is dyed, glued, sewn & edged. No sealer coat has been applied. This embossing was an after thought so I may have gone too far already with the belt to emboss.

Browns are tough to work with but I like your design.

Does anyone have a contact # for Jeff Mosby, Harper or Inifinity. I need to purchase a makers mark & these were recommended. Thanks,

Troop; Nice work. When you get through with the entire project I would like to see everything. -
I need to purchase a "makers mark" that will stand up to many items per month. I spoke with Brenda @ Laser Gift Creations (and a very nice person) but she makes hers out of sometype of polymer & not real sure how they will hold up. I was thinking more along the lines of a steel punch. I have all the art work ready for email. Can someone make a recommendation that will not break the bank?

Ray, it everything, that could be used to make a knife or sheath & much more. .Blank blades, rivets, handles, sewing machines, demonstrations on "how to make", contests & on & on. I'm going for the leather sheaths & Artisan will be there & I have a couple of questions concerning my new machine. Plus it's a nice way to spend the day. Some of the top Knife makers in the country will show their wares.

Anyone going to the Blade Show here in Atlanta this week end. I received my packet & there is somewhere around 750 Vendors attending. Should be a nice day just looking at stuff (although everything is for sale).

Shorts, Congrat on your new machine. I assume the Cobra is very much like the Toro 3000. If it is - I have the DVD that is most helpful & I will certainly lend it to you for a couple of weeks, if you think it will help. Just let me know.

Looks like one of Josh Bulmans...Good job. One of my very favorites. -
Can't seem to find Ms Brenda. Can anyone give me directions?

I know the information is here somewhere, but I can't seem to locate it. There were several posts a few weeks back regarding a good supplier to make up a "Makers Mark". Can anyone offer a source that would make one for me. I have all of the design work done. Thanks for your help.

How do you elimate leather burn from a belt sander? And does it really hurt anything thru the burnishing process?
