Fieblings pro dye.

I have been doing this for awhile. Pretty neat process.

No it’s not twisted . Or at least all that I have seen isn’t. As far as breaking strength it is strong stuff.
-
It is pretty darn tuff stuff. It will fray from friction wear. I used it a lot back in the 70-80 for Muzzleloading leather items. Hand sewn. It is widely used for tying / lacing down windings in rewinding electric motors. I have used rolls and rolls of the stuff. Curious. As why you would want it for wallets with all the other threads available?

Leather Sewing Machine Pricing for Used Consews
klutes replied to MegaBJJ's topic in Getting Started
I found a complete 206rb in perfect condition for $500. I did hate to replace the clutch motor with a servo motor $124.. it will be the last machine I would ever get rid of. -

Was wondering what others that spray your alcohol dyes on use to clean your hose and gun out. Do you use alcohol or have you found other alternatives that work .

I think it will be a more enjoyable and productive setup.

I have never really liked a pedal stand on my CB 4500. I actually thought about selling it but boy glad I changed my mind. So I decided to make a new top for an old sewing machine stand I had. The first picture is with the new stand in position to sew using the cylinder arm. The next one is with the cutout portion reinstalled. This will probably be the most used setup. I like being able to rest my arms on the table while maneuvering the leather through the machine. The cutout piece literally just set there. Can be just picked up and removed. The last picture is with the flat table top installed. It just sets on top of the other table top. No threaded rods and nuts to deal with. You switch form sewing station to the other in 30-40 seconds. Think I am going to love this comfortable and quick set up.

I changed mine out to the lighter spring and that has helped.

Do you have issues with the pressure feet it leaving impressions in the belt. I wish someone made a foot that had a wider footprint
-
Thanks guys. Yes it seems that the 4500 is the machine for the job. I do miss my 3200 sometimes

Just wanted to hear from other belt makers that use a sewing machine to sew their lined belts. What sewing machine and weight thread do you prefer to sew your 14 to 16 oz belts with. I currently have a CB341 and a 4500. I was hoping to use the 341 with 135 thread but it seems to struggle now and then on a good stitch. No problem punching the holes. The tension needed seems to not be the same through out the belt length. Possibly a leather issue rather than the machine? Just curious what others have had. The 4500 has no problem other than I hate the track marks it leaves on the finished belt. Have been working on lightening up the down pressure which has helped.
