  1. Didn’t find much after doing a search. So I will ask. What size sewing machine and thread top and bottom do most of you belt makers use for 10- 16 oz belts.
  2. I would be more worried about virus survived inside the package on what you ordered than what maybe on the outside of the package.
  3. I am on the opposite end being a youngster. It seems to me that they are very few places or people to learn the craft of the trade. At least in east central US it is.
  4. I run 1/“4 to 3/8 pretty regular on mine. A really great machine especially for the money. Mine was a one owner who sew heavy drapes out of her home. Looks and sews like new. I gave $500. But had to change out the motor to a servo . Extra $120.
  5. You need to bring the needle up and then down just a little then the bobbin will come easy. It has to be in the same position to put the bobbin back in. It will not come out when the needle is in the furthest up position.

    Belts

I was not referring to the fit of the belt. Only how long of tongue past the last hole. I pretty much do it like Dwight. I think I need to add about a extra inch to the tongue length not to the belt fit measurement. Thanks

    Belts

After you punch the last hole in a adult belt how long do leave the end of the belt. Other words what is the length from the last hole to the end of the belt. Is there a normal distance?
  8. Sinpac I would love a pattern also. Many thanks if you decide to send me one.
  9. A big round of applause to Weaver Leather. I ran out of #14 copper rivets and needed some to finish up some Christmas items. I ordered at 10:00AM Friday. Received them the next day by 2:00pm. Was not a rush order either. I have received items a lot from them by the next day. Not every time but quite often. They are my go to supplier for most of my supplies. Thank you Weaver for great service.
  10. Would anyone know where to find a pattern or at least good pictures of a handmade leather falconry hunting bag?
  11. Just use the dome post on each side. That’s what I have been doing.
  12. Lots of people on here with more experience than me but I use both but prefer glue. I feel you have the advantage of the glue adding strength to the seam. Tape is a temporary and very weak handling ability. If you use barge or contact glue be sure to read the safety warnings.. I have built a vacuum table for my glue station and vent it outside. Works great. Stay safe

  14. I thought I would share how I built my vacuum table. Tired of sniffing glue! It is about 24” by 40”. There is a chamber so to speak on the bottom side of the table. Basically I took. 1-2 inch planks and boxed around the opening and screwed a piece of plywood on the bottom of it to create a chamber or boxed in area. Hope that make sense. The box is about 8 inches by 18 inches closer to the front side of the table where I will be sitting. I bought a shop vac and hooked the suction hose to center of the plywood on the bottom of the boxed in area. Be sure to use a shop vac with 2-21/2 hose diameter to get more air movement. The one I use has 120 cf of air movement. I ran the hose through the wall and placed the shop vac it the garage area of my shop. This gets the noise in the other room. Use a vac with a discharge port. This way you can run a hose off of it the the outside. I am going to put a dryer vent through the wall to hook up the discharge hose to. I then placed a sheet of 1/4 inch peg board on top of th e table. I can set a lighter a few inches from the opening in the table top and it will pull the flame horizontal to the vacuum being created. It works really well. No more fumes. Hope the pictures help explain it. The darker area of the table top is where the chamber is underneath. Hope this all makes sense for you.
  15. Yes I do prefer the fold away type. It’s just seems simple to use and it’s always setting right there when you need it.
  16. Is anyone here familiar with the United shoe mfg. bell skiver. I have found one and trying to decide if I should get it. $600 seems to be in good working order. It is a bottom feed only. Big heavy piece of equipment. Parts concern me if you ever needed one. Sorry I do not have any pictures of it at this time. Maybe later.
