If you have access to a welding machine go find a metal bed frame and a bottle jack bingo. in 3 or 4 hours you will have a hydraulic press

I usually use Springfield leather i can get a 7oz veg tan double shoulder for $45.00 from them as opposed to 75-90 from other places. price matters and shipping is a deal breaker I am having Springfield send me 3- goat hides 7 sq ft each the shipping on that is only 9 bucks I hate it. it will cut there throat.

I just sent an email to tandy and told them to pound sand they changed the price of shipping to a straight $12.00 charge on all sales under $100.00 I was not aware of this and had a pattern in my cart. on check out. up pops $12.00 for shipping an envelope a $0.50 stamp would take care of? I deleted my order and sent them a grumpy email went over to the Steckstore bought the same exact same thing and was charged $2.00 shipping

I have run into that. what is happening is the glue is soaking into the material. your material is porous what i do. is after the glue dries i add a second coat of glue. that will do the trick. curious. what does ''naff'' man?

Elk Hide Gun Sheath
Frodo replied to garypl's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Springfield leather has 2 different grades of elk hide economy and craftsman. the economy that i have bought has ragged skin and holes the craftsman grade i have had very good luck with beautiful leather. craftsman is about a buck or buck and a half more -
could possibly be the reason you are not seeing a lot of leather hinges is the hinge is leather, it will stretch with time, the rod will become loose it is a fantastic idea, for an item that will not be used every day. their are reasons that we stopped using leather hinges and changed to metal that would be durability. i DO LIKE IT ,

love the box, that is thinking ''outside the box'' that hinge will last forever if the box is kept dry, oiled if it is left to dry out it will rot out

It was mine, i built it. Then i had to sell it because my COPD got worse. I can no longer play in the fire because of the smoke is killing me if you scrounge around you can build one for next to nothing. I had to buy the flange and the 24''x2'' nipple. the rest was freebie stuff. junk yards are my playground. lol

I am making elk/deer/pig skin lined holsters and have noticed that on MY holster. the liner is prone to come loose at the edge where the gun enters the holster I THINK. [time will tell} I ave solved that problem using a whip stitch Come SEE
