  6. Clay I will try my hand at it if you get enough to do it. Mark
  7. Richard Hi I will try and explain here how I do it . On a pair of chaps/chinks where you are using just one color your not really doing a true bleed knot, you are just taking and making a slit in the fringe close to the main body of the chap/chinks. Next you will take the end of the fringe and go to the flesh side and put the end though the slit from back to front. It is more so just turning the fringe. Hope this helps. Mark
  8. Des looks good to me glad you was able to get one done and posted. Mark

  11. coaster for the coaster challenge.
  12. Cowgirl I like to have less than 7 stitches per inch on most things. On me chaps I will use 8 to 10 stitches per inch. I use thread size 138 on the top and 69 on the bottom for lighter stuff and 277 on the top and 207 on the bottom for the heaver stuff.on natural leather I like both a dark or the light color but for chaps and things like that I like to try and match if I can. good luck with the new shop. Mark
  13. Cowgirl I would sure try a lighter thread and shorting your stitch length. When I look at something I like to see the leather (tooling ,Stamping or in this case the color and design) before I notice the stitching.I would also try and get some colored thread to match the leather you are sewing, that is not always possible to do. I like your designs and it looks like they will work nice as well. These are just things to try and work at. Great job Mark
  14. Mike I would love to get it but you already got some of my money and I don't have enough to get it. Your right it is not just a swivel knife it is one that will not be made for a long time if ever. Good luck and can't wait to get those books from you. Mark
  15. Joel Not yet but hope to soon. am working on Spur strap DVD right now. Mark
  16. Jason I think you did a great job with both pair. I to like to see what I make used but then again I make a lot for the working cowboy's and buckaroo's so they do get used hard. I like to see them after they have been use for the same reasons to see what I can make better. I also use them myself here on the ranch and have found out many thing about how I need to chance things over the last 20 years of using what I make. I like that you took my pattern and used it to make what you liked and what will work for you. The patterns I sell are not the only way to do a pair of chinks, but they do give a place to start. When I started I had a western horseman with some pictures and the drive to make a pair of chinks. From there I cut out lots that did not fit and in some cases would rub and hurt me. I did learn a lot form using them and making changes. I do know that the pattern I sell now has been in the making for over 20 years and does fit the people I have made chinks for with it. With that pattern I do make some changes to fit the needs of the costumer I am making the chinks for too. In the DVD I sell I try to go in to that some as well but it is hard to cover everything because there are so many different things that you will encounter making chinks and any leather items. I guess what I am saying is this great job, just keep working at it and you will find what works for you and your customers. I think you have a great start and they really are nice looking. Good Job Thank you for buying the patterns as well. Mark

  19. HI cowgirl They look nice to me. I have a question or two. First what are you using to sew them together with? What size thread are you using to sew with? Mark
  20. wvcraftsman I have to say no it is not easier to do it this way but I have customer that like it better than the stamped version.that was one with a swivel knife a lined beveler and a border stamp. It takes some thinking to make sure you bevel it right. Mark
  21. Crystal Great job on both. thanks for sharing. Mark
  22. Glad to have you here. What kind of gear do you make? Mark
