  10. Ben That was what I did I shaped the part that is tooled let it dry the re wet, it tooled it then sewed it to the next piece. at that point cut a shape that I liked and that was to keep the same shape as the top piece. I then sewed that to the piece with the belt slots. the middle piece was really soft and flanky and did not cut as well as it would have if a firmer piece . Funny how I was on the same page as what you described just lost it in the execution. Live and learn. Thanks for the comments. I like to here about things like this, makes me try harder. Mark
  11. Thanks Ben I did see that after I was done. I had tried to keep it but lsoe it some how. I was useing some scraps and it was a little softer , and did have a little trouble with cutting it out. I needed to find some firmer leather for it. Mark
  12. Casey I did do that after I took the pictures and it sure made it pop. I had just oiled it in those pictures so oil dyed the brand. Here is the final product. Mark
  13. Here is my latest knife sheath. I think it will work well for the guy as this is how he wanted it. I would love to hear any opinions on what might work better. I was able to use up some scrap HO on this one. Mark
  14. Joel That is what we call them here too, I have heard some call a tie rope that as well that is why I asked.I have not put them on but if I was to I would make sure they are on the back part of the yoke and out of a leather strap so they would have some friction to hold them, A ring will not hold it well. I have tried this in my tie rope rings and they fall out fast.I think I would make a strap at least an 1/2" wide and not make it to lose, that way it will grab the rope and keep it where you put it. I also think that you should never put a loop in your belt as it can become to large and then the tail can get though the loop and now your tied on to your horse. Hope this helps. Mark
  15. Josh They look really nice. The only think I see is the pocket. I know that is how they ordered them but if your leading a horse or roping the rope will get under the pocket flap and open it. Just something to really think on. Mark
  16. Jason Yes you will make the top of your yokes straight. here are some pictures of how I lace mine legs together. Mark
  17. In these I cover leather, tools, how to cut them out and put them together. I talk about fitting and how to measure them to fit right. I cover lay out of patterns so they fit right. We do talk about how they should fit when on a horse some as well. I tried to get as much in there as I could so that you can make a pair that fit and are going to work well for you or a customer. Hope this helps you out. Mark
  18. I have chink making DVD's ready for sale and some patterns as well

  19. I made my first pair of shotguns like this and had no trouble with them. Many old chaps where made like this as well mostly shot guns,Bat wings, and woolly's. Armaits also have a closed front as well. I think the thing is to make sure your belt is not really wide in the front where you lace it together. Hope this helps. Mark
  20. Tim Nice work as always. I think that simple is great. sometime for me we try to hard to fill up smaller things and take a way from the function but that is me. I know who ever gets these will be very pleased with the way they turn out. Mark
  21. Joel It is working well so far I have to tug on it to get it out and push hard to get it in and I don't even know its there even while driving the trucks around here. Mark
  22. Ok here it is on the belt. Mike I like yours looks nice and has worked well. Viking this knife is nothing to right home about just one I had handy to use LOL. Mark
