Here is how I do my backs on these. I put a light piece of raw hide between the lining and the front just where the circle is to help keep the lining for ripping. I like this so far and I guess you can say it is my own idea, I have never seen it be for, but I bet someone else has done it before. Mark

Here is the latest pair of Spur Straps. This is with the line cut and ready to bevel. then next 2 are with some beveling done. this one is with all the tooling of the carved basket weave. Mark

Russ I like to cut a leg body out of the best part of the hide length wise. and I try ti stay away from any stretchy (soft or flanky) leather. I do not cut many top to bottom because I can get the length I need. I have a DVD for sale with a full size pattern for chinks that has worked well for many people. It is 2 1/2 hours long and I go thought how to measure for fit and how ot work with the patterns for the best fit. you can see them at www.cowcampsaddlery.webs.com Hope this helps some. Mark

HI All We are getting ready to start DVD #2 this winter, It will Be on Shot Gun Chaps. We plan to have it done by May. We are also hoping that we will get one done on Spur straps as well But will Have to see how the Chap one goes. We are also working on a carving pattern pack for our chap yokes and side panels. HI I am looking for a idea on how to go about making something like snake leggings. I have a a guy that is wanting a pair and I have not really seen anything like them. So any ideas would be great. Mark
