I have done them the ways shown and described here but have found that the will pull of easily. I have conchos made with a loop back and Chicago screws to to help keep them in place and on. Here is a picture of how I attach mine hope this gives more options to work with. With this method if you have brand or initails they will not turn on the straps either. Mark

Well I finally got it done. It is a S.F.Bowman tree.15 1/2" seat. I will get better pictures of it and post them too. the weather out side it bad today so hope to get more tomorrow. Please tell me what I need to work on. It's my second saddle and I see a lot of things I would do different on the next one. Mark

kytim I have a 27oz tapered maul that works well I think its a little big for carving things like wallets and checkbook covers but is just right for setting stamps (like basket and geo type stamps). I have had shoulder surgery and the tapered maul help with the strain on my shoulder. What do you plan to do in leather will help to make a decision. Mark
