  1. I use a singer 31-15 using 69 thread top and bottom the finish on these is just estra virgin olive oil and saddle lac. Using 7/8 oz herman oak leather.
  2. I was informed that the hole in the slobber straps is probably a little too large. thank you for the information, Number two set will be much better.
  3. Here is a pair of rodeo chaps that I have done recently. I have done a few but they got shipped while my wife was away and she had the camera. The other is a set of Slobber straps, I am not real happy with the stitching I think I will hand stitch the next set but hey its a start. I am pretty happy with the edges on the slpbber straps I think they are the best edges I have to date, Still not Hidepounder quality but I am trying to get my system down and i think this is a step in the right direction, Let me know what you all think of everything and things I should have done different. again I am well aware of the not so good stitching on the slobber straps.LOL Thanks Tim
  4. Heck of alot better than my belts. I hate belts for some reason. and hey nice reata
  5. Well its good to know that he does exsist. I was just trying to be funny not offend him or yourself. I understand he is a busy man.
  6. Rawhide, does peter even exsist or is it just you in one of those mission impossible type masks. LOL Why doesnt he just come on here and talk instead of you having to be the secretary? I understand that he might be busy, or is he just too good for us. I mean alot of people are busy but still find time to come on here and share and help people learn. I would love to pick his brain a few times if he ever gets the chance. But thank you for sharing his work it is always very easy on the eyes.
  7. man the buckskin that I have has more of a yellow tint to it in the picture yours just looks off white to me. I could be wrong but i doubt it, its never happened before.LOL anyway let me know, is it truly just off white or does it have a yellow tint in real life? Thanks Tim
  8. I like those Mark. are the bodies and Ivory or a bone? what color do you call that. I am looking for someleather real similar to that.
  9. No need for the hostility. LOL I agree I was just pointing something out. I didnt mean it in a way that was supposed to be taken offensive ( hence the "no offense")
  10. Blue Loctite. it will hold the threads but if you ever need to take it apart again it will break loose and not damage threads like the red loctite can.
  11. No Offense but alot of us werent here then
  12. Kick A$$ as usual
  13. thanks, Finally someone with a dang answer.
  14. Well I cant remember what size needle it is but I am running 69 top and bottom. I use 7/8 oz for the yokes and sides and have no trouble running it by hand I just get worn out and it sure would be nice to have two hands on the material.
  15. Thanks guys I am now trying to figure out how much this stuff costs but no one will get back to me I guess. once I find someone who will actually tell me how much they want for the stuff I will get some coming. I gotta be honest I am not impressed with customer service at this point with a few dealers. Call em up and you get a " well I have to go look but I will call you right back" well its been four days and no response from a few of them. I know Kevin will get back to me on monday since I didnt know he carried it I didnt get a hold of him until later. but again thanks for the info just trying to find it now. Tim
  16. I have an old 31-15 singer and am curious if it is worth puting a servo motor on. I have been told that it wont have enough torque because of the flywheel size but I dont know this for sure, I have seen on an older chandler that a servo didnt work woth a hoot. it was a member here that bought one thinking it would really help him out but it didnt have any power to punch through. so if you have any info on how I could make this work or if it even worth it I sure could use some help as I am running it by hand right now and wafter stitching a few pairs of chaps my arm sure gets tired. Thanks Tim
  17. Thank you very much kind sir.
  18. Where do you buy the liners from. Is it a kit or do you buy each piece? oh and what are you using for a stiffener, if you dont mind sharing? Thanks for all of your wonderful work.
  19. Looks just like my singer 31-15 or maybe a 31-20 but I am not sure because mine dosent have a motor mounted to it. Mine has a big clutch motor mounted under the table. I dont use it but it has it.
  20. well thanks for all of the info, once I catch up in the leather shop I will try to make one or two.
  21. so I use oil to quench. How hot do I need to get it for how long? Cherry red? then quench in oil then do I need to place in oven for a while? Sorry but I want to try this but when I am done I want the dang thing to hold an edge. How do your knives hold an edge? reasonable time or do you have to strop after every few cuts? Thanks for all of the info.
  22. hey thanks for the info I am not a metalurgist so I really didnt know what type of steel was used in a saw blade. One question though to temper it would I just heat it red hot like mentioned and water quench. or do I need to do another step like the oven? I think I will try it just to see if I can do it, I have never tried anything like this so if I ruin some old saw blades I am not out any money. and one more. Can I use my oxy/acetylene set up or would that put too much carbon in the steel?
  23. Very Very nice bob as usual. I need to try the three peice method one of these days and maybe I could reach about 164th of the look that you acheive. Good job. Tim
