As Y'all might know I'm mainly production but I do sell off excess leather from time to time. I've put it all in one big document at the moment (but the PDF is too big to post here) email me and I'll send it. I'm going to attempt to post each image separately in this post. Feel free to hit me with any questions. All CF stead leathers are calf and around 4 oz some hides are under 10 ft.² and some as much as 17. SB Foot and Horween (except DHF) leathers are all roughly 4-5oz 20 square-foot average, but they can vary from 16 to 24/25 feet I don’t cut hides and only sell full hides. Pricing based on full side/hide These are some leathers that I have in quantity most at at least 100 square-foot. Horween Ocean tumbled Essex, veg tan soft temper 4 to 5 ounce thick $4 per square foot : Horween Rockford periwinkle, medium temper, smooth finish veg tan 4-5 ounce $4 per foot:

Allergies in dogs and their going off food.
nstarleather replied to SUP's topic in All About Us and Off Topic
Our pup had about a month of not eating well and visits to the vet didn't reveal anything...we tried the chicken broth thing and she still got sick. We then, just because we were desperate went to lean pork and pork broth and she began eating that...but she has kidney issues so we had a major struggle finding a kidney diet without the "standard proteins" (beef, lamb, chicken)...finally found one that's made from alligator and she'd doing ok but still sometimes needs come convincing to eat. Prior to that first episode she would eat anything without thinking twice. It's crazy what we do for our furry kids. -
Hey Folks, As you know besides just making and selling stuff, I run into lots of deals that I can pass on. Here are a few Horween leathers. Buyer pays shipping from Ruby SC. Thanks For looking! I have a few hides of Horween Latigo I picked up in tan and natural and a bit of heather grey 3.5oz-4oz. $6 per foot: I also have some Horween Road Masterin Walnut 5oz-5.5oz but honestly feels heavier: Also still have the Black CXL: And last but not least Horween Visage Grey Latigo on a natural back. BECAUSE I'M TIRED OF LOOKING AT IT: $2 PER FOOT on the Visage latigo only.

Finalized My "stock" messenger bag designs
nstarleather replied to nstarleather's topic in Show Off!!
Thanks! I had the dies made up in 2019 but finally nailed down what I wanted to do and pricing. -
After many months of working/thinking on exactly what I wanted to do with these bags, I've finally landed on what will be our stock design (obviously we can make modifications if you'd like.) It features an inside pocket large enough for a 13" MacBook, Pen Pockets and phone pocket, a front pocket big enough for most tablets, buckle closures and grab handle. I've got them made up in Briar Oil Slick, Black Canyan (a Teacore AKA: Prairie), Black Cherry Excalibur, Concrete Hardtimes (R&T) and Sienna Hillbilly, all from SB Foot. I also did a sample in another leather from Seidel Tannery (last pictrue).

What is Mycelium Leather? Does it exist?
nstarleather replied to RobertoDR69's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Exactly it's all used...one argument that I hear from well-meaning people in favor of using leather is that "it will just go into a landfill" and that's nonsense...even if, magically, one day leather is no longer a "thing"...people will figure out uses for it just like everything else. -

I've seen it brought up from time to time and even checked out a site for one company that was selling small pieces. The pricing was on par with Shell Cordovan ($100 for about 1 square foot)...it was waaay too much to take a chance on. I was interested because it seems to be more of a "grown material" and not like a lot of the other "vegan leathers" out there that are basically a fiber with a plasticy binder. I've said it before but pineapple, cactus and some of the others aren't really all that different from the 100-year-old technique that LV uses to make their coated Canvas. The makers play them up as something new and interesting but in practice they're more like coated cloth or paper. -
Yes they will leave marks. So when we finish products occasionally we have a bit of edge that hangs over because of leather stretching during splitting. The Wiss are great (and we do use them frequently) but will mark on one side of the leather, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Here's a piece I folded and cut you can see the "bottom" part of the fold gets teeth marks. For us when it's precision and not too heavy. We use any of the Fiskar's Razoredge series. They're $15-$20 and we do have to replace occasionally. I'm going to look at the KAI too.

Yeah absolutely no useful information here even for locals. @Mistr Please describe the type of hardware, maybe what you were making. I would also say, don't rule out shipping, if you want to sell the lot and it fits on a pallet you can get a truck to pickup and take it anywhere in the USA for under $500 and as little as $100-$200 if they're close.

Nothing worse than the realization that you've been confidently incorrect...well good on you to be honest and call back.

This is a great warning post. Here's another thing you can do that adds to this point: Download the image (right click and "save") then take the photo and drag it into https://images.google.com/ and it will show you if the same image anywhere else on the web, if it's on another "for sale" post from sometime in the past with different "owner info", it's a sure sign of a scam. Obviously asking for more pics or closeups works two but reverse searching is something you can do with out further contact.

Antique Skiver - Sharpening stone doesn’t spin
nstarleather replied to KatieM's topic in Leather Machinery
So yes make sure that the belt below the stone is tight and not broken as @fredk said. That's the most common issue. On my machine I just make replacement belts from leather but you can also buy them. If the mechanism that turns the belt isn't moving, check further in. There is a knob that will move forward and back to push the small pointy rod on the left of my picture. If when the rod is not engaged the two wheels (on the right in the picture) aren't touching then you can adjust to make sure they make contact. Since it's an old machine it's possible the rubber on the wheels has worn down.
