  1. Well I just said "F" it & bought 1 of these strap cutters. I will let you know what I think of it in a few days if I get around to it. Lmao I got a Cobra 26 to assemble too.
  2. Check out rocky mountain leather I think they carry fabric lining. They also got rfid blocking material.
  3. Ok thanks rk. If I was using 3/8" wide 8-9oz latigo billet tie/lace. What size would you make the billet holes? It does have the lace that passes thru the top 2 holes 3 times on the billet. I don't have the saddle. Till it gets cold. Then the guys stop riding. Thanks. Appreciate your help.
  4. Dang sucker's were here b4 6:30am this morning. Cobra 26 all bundled up.
  5. Finally got around to using this skiver. It done a excellent job on some latigo for saddle billets ties. This skiver works great, once you learn the adjusting techniques. Here is couple pics of making saddle strings.
  6. Dang LMC did not "F" around when shipping my Cobra class 26. It is suppose to arrive somewhere between 7-11am. Might get it in the shop & set up. Hopefully. How do you think the class 26 will handle 18oz waxed canvas? I would like to make some waxed canvas & leather totes.
  7. There is more than 1 way to do it. Some lightly oil then dye. Some dye & then oil. If you plan on dying & then apply antiquing gel & such. I would look into Don Gonzales antiquing video. It is not long & lots of great info he points out.
  8. That looks sharp! Nice work. Make sure to post up a Pic when it is finished. The acetone is a bit more harsh I would say. As it removes the oils & such from the natural veg tan leather. I think denatured alcohol will clean that up. I also think your saddle tan will cover it fine. Just make sure to condition it after you get it done to help replenish the oils & such.
  9. Got any pics. Might help others about giving advice on removing the blue stain/rub off. I would think denatured alcohol or acetone should take off the blue. You always got option to dye it darker if you are working with natural veg tan. Sorry to hear about the pain. Who would ever think their shirt would stain your leather.
  10. Nothing like good tooling! Tools that is. Bought this skiver a year ago & finally got around to using it. I cut my latigo saddle strings with it. Basically you skive the right & left side to create a half diamond shaped saddle string. Supposedly doing this helps the lace to lay flat when you tie the billets on. This is all a learning experience for me.
  11. On my rear flank billets. Lmao I think that is there real name for them. What size are the 3 holes in the billet to tie the billet on? This particular saddle uses 3/8 latigo saddle string to tie the billets on with. Should the 3 billet holes be a 1/4" or bigger? Perhaps smaller? Thanks. Any & all help appreciated.
  12. Looks mighty fine! Nice work. Looks like you still got the touch.
  13. Here is the set I am going to try. I can get all welting feet in a kit. IDK if they are worth a darn, but I'll give it a try.
  14. Welcome to the group. Bunch of great people here.
  15. I'm watching this thread. I am along for the ride. I just ordered a new cobra class 26 & I hope I don't have that problem. I am hoping you figure this out. I thought the bare minimum for needle size on 138 thread was a #21 needle. I use a #23 needle & 138 thread on my cobra class 4, but got tired of "dummying it down".
  16. A dark gray would look snazzy too against the black. Something like this or a shade or 2 darker.
  17. I am thinking red would look nice for the decorative stitching. Look nice.
  18. Thanks. Yeah I been eye balling some stingray in the color denim. They look really neat. Would make a interesting wallet.
  19. Beautiful looking holster. Nice work on everything. Looks outstanding! Is stingray hard to sew? I heard it can be tricky. Thanks.
  20. Thanks. Yeah that is the tool I keep forgetting to order when on tandys site. Thanks again for the tool#
  21. Nice looking pig sticker! You done a nice job. Is that what Jantz calls the Coffin boot knife? Did the stag come from them too. Did you use a pebble backgrounder for the border? Beautiful work.
  22. Thank you. I will order a set 111w feet & see if they work for me. $50 a set from LMC seems a bit stiff in price to me. Hopefully I won't have to re-adjust a bunch of things to use the 111w feet. Thanks.
  23. Thanks kgg. I was thinking a 1" raw edge binder. I'm hoping to use some thin leather binding tape so to speak. Idk but I wanted to use it on edges of totes & such. Both canvas & leather & a mixture of the 2. Yeah I looked at the 90° binder set up for my cobra class 4 & I think it was about $700-800 dollars. I said the heck with that. I would like to be able to edge binding & do piping with the cobra class 26. Sorry for being such a newbie to this machine sewing. I'm hoping to learn a few things here.
  24. They also can be used on cabinet doors. For a drawer/door damper.
