  1. I think both Cowboy & Cobra both sell a pedestal stand. But they are pricey, around $650 I believe. I recently priced all the correct steel to fabricate a pedestal stand like Cobra or Cowboy sales. I had $200 just in steel.
  2. I guess I never heard of such technique as casing with oil. I thought all casing was done with water.
  3. Nice work. I think they look great! What weight of leather is on your leash. It looks like a double layer of 9-10oz in the pic. Thanks.
  4. Make some tote bags.
  5. I have not used carnuba wax. I do not think carnauba wax will seal leather from dye bleed out/ rub off. I use either Satin Shene or Super Shene from Tandy & it seems to do a good job for me. I personally think carnauba wax might make dye rub off/bleed out even worse.
  6. I don't think the resolene will cause it not to patina. It should still get patina with age/ wear. Maybe I'm wrong. I am sure others will chime in on this.
  7. Is that by chance a double loop lace technique you used around the edge of your wallet? Or some other type of lacing technique? Thanks.
  8. I think it all looks pretty good to me. Maybe I'm not picky enough? I bet wiping it down with acetone would lighten it. Don't know if this is a proven method thou.
  9. Inlay leather work. I can't think of her name at the moment, but she does inlay work on her custom made boots & competes @ the big leather trade shows. Lisa Sorrell is the name I believe. I may have misspelled the name. I think she has books & maybe even some classes on different techniques.
  10. Nice work. It looks great!
  11. Are you using a smooth feed dog & smooth presser foot? Or are you using a serrated feed dog & presser foot? There will be some professionals come along shortly, I bet they can give you the right answer.
  12. Are you using a round point or a ball point needle for the canvas? Also what thread size & needle are you using? & what needle point style? Thanks. I am a newbie with machine sewing & I been sewing some canvas too, but with a Cobra class 26.
  13. Buckleguy is the cheapest I know of on purchasing bulk hardware.
  14. Can I ask what ground seat is? Thanks.
  15. I own a Cobra class 26, while I am a newbie to sewing machines. I think going from 1 type of leather to another type of leather, you will need to make a thread tension adjustment. That or you will need to find a happy medium for thread tension of the 2 leathers you are using.
  16. Looks great! Beautiful. Nice work.
  17. I finally got my 1st side of leather with a brand mark. It is a horseshoe. I think I will make a wallet with it. When dyed it should really stick out & make a neat wallet.
  18. Check out Zelikovitz Leather, they have 4-5 different patterns. Maybe get some insight from them.
  19. Yeah I forgot about that. I guess Fiebings Saddle Lacq might be close to the Tandy stuff too.
  20. I think you could. But I would do a test piece. I would worry about the lacquer cracking when the leather flexed. But you could mix some flex agent in with the lacquer to prevent it from cracking.
  21. I must of done something wrong? I was summoned! I guess I must really make my duty belts overkill. My carry belts are 6-9mm thick. Plus I put a plastic stiffner in them if the customer wants it.
  22. You might check my thread on the Tandy Pro Manual strap cutter. It's a nice machine. You can cut up to 7 straps at one time, depending on width. It cuts 14-16oz saddle skirting like butter.
  23. Yeah the Weaver Diamond stitching chisels are nice. They only cost about $25/set. So if you are looking to get a set. I would check them out.
  24. I will recommend this manual leather skiver if you are working with veg-tan leather. I know it's China made, but this is a good manual skiver for the money. It works great. It is the same one that tandy, buckleguy, & a few other companies sell, but at 1/2 to a third of the price. The blade will need to be touched up if you decide to get it.
