    1st off, so everybody is aware. What thread? What size thread? & needle are you using? Also what weight of leather? Also food for thought, the bottom stitching will never look as good as the top stitching. Or at least I think.

    Another Great guy to check out is Jim Linnel he is a master at everything leather carving.

    Check on Joe Melings website, he does a course on designing & drawing carving patterns. I think Don Gonzales does as well.

    If you got a Tandy near by, alot times they will let you demo their machines.

    Thanks appreciate it. I think it was a result of my lower price imported side of leather & I was getting pretty close to the belly portion of the hide.

    Look at tubular rivet setter. I think that is what tool might be used/needed to set that type of concho.

    Maybe @bruce johnson is familiar with this style of concho & knows what tools it takes to set them. Hopefully he can set us straight on this.

    Thanks. I think that style of concho uses a washer on the back that fits the hollow stud/tube. Then you use a a hollow tube rivet setter.

    Thanks. So on your split reins you made, was there any stretching of the leather to take the initial stretch out of them? Thanks. I'll book mark that link.

    Beautiful work! They look nice. I got a guy that wants me to make a set of them type reins. I wonder if my HO Brown Latigo side is 8ft long?

    I think both Cowboy & Cobra both sell a pedestal stand. But they are pricey, around $650 I believe. I recently priced all the correct steel to fabricate a pedestal stand like Cobra or Cowboy sales. I had $200 just in steel.

    I guess I never heard of such technique as casing with oil. I thought all casing was done with water.

    Nice work. I think they look great! What weight of leather is on your leash. It looks like a double layer of 9-10oz in the pic. Thanks.

    I have not used carnuba wax. I do not think carnauba wax will seal leather from dye bleed out/ rub off. I use either Satin Shene or Super Shene from Tandy & it seems to do a good job for me. I personally think carnauba wax might make dye rub off/bleed out even worse.

    I don't think the resolene will cause it not to patina. It should still get patina with age/ wear. Maybe I'm wrong. I am sure others will chime in on this.
