  1. As soon as I get around to installing the cutters blades. I will report back with my thoughts. I did watch this guy cut saddle skirting with it & I know it wasn't designed for that. But it did cut the 14-16oz leather saddle skirting.
  2. Thanks rk. I will try to get a look at the saddle this weekend. Then I will kinda get a idea of what they used & what direction to go. Thanks.
  3. Thanks. rk. I appreciate your expertise. I think I may have chance to look at the saddle again this weekend. I will try to remember to check the billet tie hole size. Thanks again.
  4. Thanks for posting the link. Lmao I do everything from my phone & haven't figured that out yet.
  5. If you decide to do another sling. I think weaver leather carries the 1907 sling hardware.
  6. Thanks kgg. I might look into setting my machine up with the extended foot lift lever/bracket. Especially if my foot gets tired.
  7. Ok I think I figured where that extra bracket/lever goes on the class 26. I think it might be for or to offer a different lift option for the foot. Possibly for a knee lift setup. Here is couple pics.
  8. @Wizcrafts so if I am reading & understanding this correctly. That black lever/bracket is something to do with the chain foot lift? I took a couple pics of my machine, because im still at a loss. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
  9. Does anybody know where this piece goes on a cobra class 26? Looks like a bracket and or a actuating lever of some sort. Thanks.
  10. Yeah! Took them 3 months to get here!!! at 7mph! No the freight company that delivers, I have them just sit in the trailer. Makes it pretty easy off a lift gate.
  11. Yeah it hasn't moved for a long time. Tell me about! I'm glad I set my alarm for 6am. I have almost got it assembled.
  12. Well I just said "F" it & bought 1 of these strap cutters. I will let you know what I think of it in a few days if I get around to it. Lmao I got a Cobra 26 to assemble too.
  13. Check out rocky mountain leather I think they carry fabric lining. They also got rfid blocking material.
  14. Ok thanks rk. If I was using 3/8" wide 8-9oz latigo billet tie/lace. What size would you make the billet holes? It does have the lace that passes thru the top 2 holes 3 times on the billet. I don't have the saddle. Till it gets cold. Then the guys stop riding. Thanks. Appreciate your help.
  15. Looks nice. Great tooling work.
  16. Dang sucker's were here b4 6:30am this morning. Cobra 26 all bundled up.
  17. Finally got around to using this skiver. It done a excellent job on some latigo for saddle billets ties. This skiver works great, once you learn the adjusting techniques. Here is couple pics of making saddle strings.
  18. Dang LMC did not "F" around when shipping my Cobra class 26. It is suppose to arrive somewhere between 7-11am. Might get it in the shop & set up. Hopefully. How do you think the class 26 will handle 18oz waxed canvas? I would like to make some waxed canvas & leather totes.
  19. There is more than 1 way to do it. Some lightly oil then dye. Some dye & then oil. If you plan on dying & then apply antiquing gel & such. I would look into Don Gonzales antiquing video. It is not long & lots of great info he points out.
  20. That looks sharp! Nice work. Make sure to post up a Pic when it is finished. The acetone is a bit more harsh I would say. As it removes the oils & such from the natural veg tan leather. I think denatured alcohol will clean that up. I also think your saddle tan will cover it fine. Just make sure to condition it after you get it done to help replenish the oils & such.
  21. Got any pics. Might help others about giving advice on removing the blue stain/rub off. I would think denatured alcohol or acetone should take off the blue. You always got option to dye it darker if you are working with natural veg tan. Sorry to hear about the pain. Who would ever think their shirt would stain your leather.
  22. Nothing like good tooling! Tools that is. Bought this skiver a year ago & finally got around to using it. I cut my latigo saddle strings with it. Basically you skive the right & left side to create a half diamond shaped saddle string. Supposedly doing this helps the lace to lay flat when you tie the billets on. This is all a learning experience for me.
  23. On my rear flank billets. Lmao I think that is there real name for them. What size are the 3 holes in the billet to tie the billet on? This particular saddle uses 3/8 latigo saddle string to tie the billets on with. Should the 3 billet holes be a 1/4" or bigger? Perhaps smaller? Thanks. Any & all help appreciated.
  24. Looks mighty fine! Nice work. Looks like you still got the touch.
  25. Here is the set I am going to try. I can get all welting feet in a kit. IDK if they are worth a darn, but I'll give it a try.
