  5. Look into the Cobra burnishing machine.
  6. I think it was on a Leather Element with Chuck Dorsett & I think it's oil dyes needed to make a pink dye.
  7. Heck yeah!!! That hat looks awesome! Nice work.
  8. I think you got to mix some sort of light gray dye with a red dye to get a pink dye I believe. Can't remember where I saw this at, but I think it can be done. It might be mahogany & white dye mixed together to get pink. If not you could buy a panel of pink veg-tan leather.
  9. Are you sure it's paint? It could be a hot bluing or possibly black parkerized. Some old tools I think were hot blued. Got any pics. Thanks.
  10. Yeah I think that style of blade/knife design, is referred to as a Viking's Toenail depending what part of the world your in. I like it. That will make a great neck knife. Thanks for sharing.
  11. There is some great guys & gals on this site that can probably walk you thru setting your timing.
  12. Bevel your edges when the leather is dry. Also buy a better edge beveler if you have the funds to do so. You can also sharpen your old edge beveler if you feel up to that sort of task. I recently bought Palosanto edge bevelers & they are a work of art & bevel the edges of leather with ease. They also come with a sharpener & a stropping board.
  13. Look great! Nice artwork. Beautiful red winged blackbird. Like to see that knife as well. I'm a knife junkie! Looks like a norseman inspired knife.
  14. I would check out what @RockyAussie & @Patrick1 offer for holster plates & feed dogs.
  15. OK thanks. I'll check it out.
  16. You might try Appling your dye with a air brush. Then you can fade & darken areas as you like them.
  17. Thanks I appreciate your input.
  18. Welcome to the group. Bunch of great peeps here. Enjoy!
  19. Conceria Walpier Buttero is a Italian veg tan leather. I love it because of the hand/firmness it has & the way the edges burnish up. Really nice leather to work with & tons of colors. I just recently started using some of it for my wallets & I love the end results when finished.
  20. Looks great. Nice work. What color of dye did you use? Almost has a Buttero leather look to me.
  21. I myself would use something bigger than a wool dauber. I myself would use a sponge, that has more coverage area, per pass. I would also have my dye in a dish like a disposable pie pan. I would dip one side of the sponge in the dye real quick like & pull it back out & kinda let the dye soak into the sponge. That way it don't drip. Drips off of the sponge is a bad deal & can wreck a project. Then i would start my dye application process to the project, & continue to repeat till I got my desired results. Uniform color & desired color depth. Try dying some of your scrap leather you cut your hat out of first. That way you have a idea how the dye is going to react to the leather.
  22. That's a hard question to answer I think. Only reason I say that is: it seems like every different piece of leather I have dyed, takes different approaches/dying technique to achieve certain results. Lol now this is what I found when I recently started using Fiebings Pro Dye.
  23. I do everything from a phone & I'm too computer illiterate to figure it out.
  24. Would you be nice enough to tell me, just what it cost/what you charged to sew patches on. I'm just curious. Thanks.
  25. Thanks @Northmount for that tip. I would have not thought about that. Thats a great tip & trick. Thanks.
