After a few failed attempts at a flatter back holster I decided to take a different route. Big shout out to Jeff at jlsleather! The kit comes with exceptional leather, more than enough thread, and detailed instructions. And if you have any questions, as I did, he's more than ready to help. There's a few things I wish I'd done differently but I'm very happy with the results. It rides better on the side than the 50/50 pancakes I've been making. The pistol doesn't bind when I cinch the belt down. Let me know what you guys think!

So I had someone contact me, a d was very specific on his needs. Here's the part about him wanting a softer than normal holster: "I want it lined with suede or some soft material,so as not to take the finish off at the tip espically. Thanks I don't care about anything fancy. I don't like a holster that is stiff and won't bend can you help?" Not sure about the flexibility part. Once it's glued and wet molded, it's gonna be stiff. Any ideas?

Does anyone have the pattern pack number for a Tandy Pack? I need to buy the correct pack that includes a western shoulder holster pattern for a customer. None of the Tandy Pattern packs I have includes a western style version - not the modern semi pistol - aka tactical version. If somebody knows which Pack Item number I need to buy I would appreciate it. - Thanks - Kent

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I wanted to thank the community for all I read here about vinegar black. I am madly in love with using mordant instead of dye. I was able to turn out an impulse project in no time with my month old brew. It's a holster for my fabric scissors. I made the mistake of using the live edge of the hide for the rim (I liked the soft curve of it), but it's too floppy and soft for my liking, so I know next time to either line the rim or be sure to use a tougher inner part of the hide for that edge. It was instantly gratifying and deeply satisfying. I'm thankful for this forum and hope I can post and read more when I can get my head out of my work. Take care everyone! ~gemfox

For all of you who retail your holsters, do any of you have a Firearms Safety Compliance Statement? (Here is DeSantis' http://www.desantisholster.com/safety-compliance) Yes, I should (am) consulting legal counsel, and am not asking for legal advice on this board. I'm more curious as to why or why not you do/don't have one. I'm leary of making any sort of legal claims, but feel that it's a responsibility to promote firearm safety and responsible use of my products. Would love to hear some thoughts. Cheers!

Thought I'd share my second holster. Very pleased with the turn out!! This is Herman oak and shark, also convertible from IWB to OWB.

Probably crazy to ask but does anyone have a pattern for a magnum research desert eagle(44 if it matters)? Willing to pay for the pattern.

Zombie holster for 1911 pistol.

This is a copy of my dads left handed Bianchi flipped to right hand. The original is plain. 8-9oz leather with pig skin lining. For a Ruger Blackhawk .45. Also found out this leather is too thick for the Pull-the-Dots I got for it. (I have since discovered you can use the backs from line 24 with Pull-the-dots...too late) Probably should have used the larger basket weave stamp but I'm happy with it. Yes that wall is pink When we bought the house it was a nursery. Too lazy to paint so far.

Got a fella wantin' this for 92fs Compact If you are interested in making this rig (and capable, please -- let's not burn up this guy's time) just message me your contact info and I'll pass it on to him. Chicago area. Time frame, price, and payment will be between you and him entirely.

Anybody like being referred when I can't get there? Got a message today about a rig I can't get round to. Responded that I will refer him if he would like. Not giving out his information, but if you are interested I'll give him yours. He wants ...: for 92fs Compact

For my first project I made a holster for my Ruger Mark III using 6-7oz tooling leather. I learned a lot from this project and can't wait to keep going. I dyed the outside with water based dye but left the inside alone because I didn't want the dye rubbing off on the gun. If someone has advice for how to treat the inside it would be greatly appreciated. Please leave comments - criticism is welcomed!

Just finished up another holster for a customer. IWB for a Walther PK380 pistol. This was my first style IWB for a pistol. Started on it on Sunday, drew up 2 or 3 different templates before coming up with this. I think it looks pretty good for my first one like this. I have done a revolver, but not a pistol.

Okay, where is it? You know - that one elusive video that shows me how to make a holster pattern, or the holster. My baby girl figured out the password on my phone So I found her on poo-tube... and wouldn't ya know it, there's "holster videos" (sometimes holster stuff comes up in searches around my stuff). So, I admit it - I watched [portions of] about 10 of 'em. There I said it And in turn, each one of them took varying amounts of my time to show me the same thing Stohlman put in a book 50 years ago. Different gun models, but the same thing. So, seriously -- those who just want to bicker and argue, please do it elsewhere. Otherwise, DO tell me where the video is that ACTUALLY DOES show me how to design / make a holster. I know about the one Sam Andrews made (which I applaud). Is he still the only one? Now, I don't mean that a camera is running and there's a holster, and maybe there's a gun right there. I mean, if someone searched for 'how do i make a leather holster?' .. WHERE would I send them?

I wanted to share a few recent holsters I have built. So here I go to start yet another thread showing my work. Only this will be the last new thread I will start for showing my holsters. Instead I will just continue to add them here to this thread. Some holsters are or will be my personal holsters and some will be ones that I have built to sell. I welcome comments, critiques, and suggestions. General discussion is welcome too.

First multi-color holsters and use of Tiger thread.

Recently made this for a family member. No patterns available, so had to come up with this on my own. There's some flaws, but over all I'm ok with it for a first try. Open to comments. Thanks

As the title says third time is the charm it would seem, Decided to do a little prototyping from a pattern I got from tandy, first one was way to small for even a small smart phone, but it does make a great knife holster for my exactoknife I keep putting it down then looking every where for it only to find it in an odd spot, now with it on my hip I do not lose the damned thing, nor does it fall from the holster so that is nice. Second one (the middle one) was wide enough for a Samsung galaxy s5 but for some damn reason the strap was to short (still not sure about that but ah well) did not really like the way the tooling came out, the dying came out like I thought it would and kind of like the effect. Third one which is holding my phone came out perfect, now will make a 4th one and will be making it out of stingray...first and LAST one out of stingray as it will use up the last of my stingray hide how I hate that stuff its a real bitch to work with!

First attempt to make holster, leaves a lot to be desired, but was enough to hook me up to try more... There is a second holster from an amateur who after making a few more realize how much I really don't know about leather working.

Wow I found an add on craigslist for a campbell harness stitcher. The add had been running for 6 months and started at 4000, 3000, 2000, best offer. I called and scheduled a visit. The stitcher has been sitting for around 20 years. Was purchased for a business that never got off the ground so machine was put in storage. When i saw this stitcher it looked a little rough. I offered 1200 and to my surprise he quickly said yes. I got the Campbell home and called Campbell Randall and discovered it was a Randall. I oiled it, cleaned all the dust off (lots of dust over 20 years) oiled, cleaned, ordered parts, timed, adjusted and turned her over. She was stiff so I oiled her again and again untill she was smooth. I got some thread and threaded her up, wound a bobbin and put in a double piece of 15 oz and sewed it by hand (she did not come with a table) but she stitches like a dream. Nice tight stitches through 1/2 inch of leather, 1/4 in leather. Got to get a table, motor and speed reducer to try her out for good. 20 years of sitting now she's mine.

I just finished this holster and thought I would share. I have been working to get this boning thing down and I think I finally got it. Still working thru some dye learning curves but that seems to change from one color to the next. The holster is a snap on pancake with 25* cant for Commander size 1911s. Yes it is a clone of the MS Axiom and TT Gunleather DDOO. The shark trim was chocolate brown before being sealed but now looks black. It works for me though so not a big deal. I used 8/9 leather for this. The seal coat is Tandy's Pro clear gloss. Hand stitched. Sorry double post.
