I have been watching a good bit of YouTube lately and came across Don Gonzales' channel and got inspired by his pancake sheath video. I've been wanting to get my tooling in shape and the sheathes aren't huge and still allow you to get in some skill while making a functional thing still. I don't have a stockman style knife so I winged it and made up my own pattern and tried to put some scrolly stuff on the sheath. I dyed the background Fiebings Dark Brown (Pro), the flat parts Mahogany (spirit), and hit the vines with some Eco-flo saddle tan gel antique. I left the backside natural. Finished with Fiebings Leather Sheen. My stitching is coming along nicely and the edges came out super nice. The leather is 8/9 oz Craftman Oak from Tandy. I really need to grab a bag punch-cutting those slots sucks and is risky! This is not my first attempt at tooling but it is my first attempt at anything close to floral. I accidentally put this in "Show Off" but please critique as you want. Mods, feel free to move this to Critique My Work if needed.

Hi, this is my first post and my first attempt at a laptop sleeve! I made this laptop sleeve, one side floral, one side basket weave with a brand. I realize the floral is too small for the side it is on, but I didn't want to go too far off pattern free hand (I am not nearly that experienced). After doing this I realize I need to get a better swivel knife and a better basket weave stamp. My roomie upstairs was not happy with my banging away on all those stamps! -Leather was 7-8 oz euro side from tandy. -Saddle tan gel antique -Resist with Eco Flo Top Finish Gloss -Double sided rivets I appreciate any advice you all might have! Or tips and tricks for next time. Thanks for looking. Lane (AB, Canada)

This is my first attempt at carving. I didn't practice first, just dove in. The original pattern was a bit off because I was just tracing regular paper on cased leather and the paper tended to tear. I'll get some tracing film for future projects. By the end of this project I was beginning to get a feel for walking the tools. I only used a swivel knife, lined beveler, smooth pear shader, and a modeling spoon. I can still see some of my original cut lines and I'm not sure if I just cut too deeply or just didn't bevel deep enough. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone. Been a while since I've posted and I thought I'd share my first Sheridan styled project. I just completed this Sheridan style picture frame for my wife. The pattern is by Chan Geer.Looking at framing options if anyone has done any of these before.

I have wanted to learn how to carve for a long time so I stopped at my local leather shop and picked up a few tools and i pamphlet. This is my first attempt. I think my leather was to dry. I ok with the results but I can see how having a wider variety of tools would be helpful. I see my bank account getting smaller and smaller. I know I have a long way to go but I am excited to get started. Unfortunately in my area there are no classes so I guess I will search youtube for some help.

A couple pics of two of my practice pannels. Its just cheap 3/4 oz. leather scrap so the impressions aren't going to be all that deep. But it is a start. Some of the leaves turned out ok but other than that I feel like its pretty aweful. I'm looking for some basic sheridan/floral patterns to practice with if anyone would like to share. Bryan
