Hi everyone, New here and looking to learn more about leathercraft. So far having a great time tinkering around with some cheap veg tan, a swivel knife, some cheap stamps, dyes, and whatever ideas pop into my head! Here is my first finished full project. I made a personalized, fixed length guitar strap for a close friend. Hand tooled and hand stitched, well hand everything lol. I was proud of the end result and he intends to use it on stage at the next gig! Hope you like it too.

Hey guys! I need some options and opinions on what to use as a stiffener/backing for some Tele style guitar pick guards. My customer wants me to make him a sample and I want to use the right type of backing to prevent shrinkage (if any) and of course to stiffen the leather? Do I even need a backing? is there just a finishing technic I can use? My customer wants a batch of these...so I better make it right the first time, know what I mean? thanks for your time!

This was a fun design and blending of colours. Working with two bold colours had its challenges, but it turned out in the end.

Made this custom tooled leather pick guard for a client as a gift for his bandmate and his Fender Telecaster. Can't wait to see it put on and on stage!

Hello All, I am a web designer for a friend, TJ, who enjoys creating custom leather carvings. His gift to me, a laptop cover with a Les Paul, is one of his works that I consider to be his absolute best. His work expands beyond just laptop covers. He has created key chains, iPhone cases, purses, leather face clocks, and much much more (even moccasins!). His website, www.customleathercarvings.com, contains a photo gallery of his work and a page dedicated to explaining why he continues creating his leather carvings. He absolutely loves being asked questions! If you have some spare time and questions, please fill out the form located on the photo gallery page. Thank you for your time and support. Michael

Does anyone have a guitar strap pattern, either a paper copy I could buy or a digital would be ok as well.

I made a couple Pickguards for my buddy Tavo from the http://www.thenocturnebrain.com/. He has some pretty cool guitars and a lot of custom ones, and Gretsch Guitars. We are currently working together on a project for a new pedal he is designing that includes some custom leather! I am very excited about that! Anyway...Here is the Pickguards I made him for his LaCabronita Custom Rutters Knotty Pine guitar. One of them stretched out during tooling it and I sent it to him anyway; just in case he found something it might work on...and it fit his Bass:) COOL! He wasn't wild about me putting "Tavonita" on it at first but it has grown on him as he understands the joke now:) hahahaha Anyone who speaks some slang spanish will understand..... Anyway more to come I have been very, very busy with guitar stuff lately.

Vintage dye job to replicate that "old and warn, yet well cared for" look. Perfect piece to show off some of those natural character marks. I cover the piece with dark brown applied blotchy, with only "specs" of dye around the tooling, then go over the whole thing in red, followed by some light brown around the tooling to darken it up a bit and then some more to blend different shades on the rest of the strap, then one more coat of red to tie it all together. It's a pain, but my customers love the look.© Hellhound Kustoms Leatherwork

New guitar strap I finished up today. The customer is a member of the Blues Guitar Unleashed forums (BGU) who's family had a history of "privateering" after they came over from Britain. So, we went with that and the fact that he's from Texas and threw his family crest on there as well.
