Nice tooling! That's the first thing that caught my eye. Very clean, precise, and classy. The decorative cuts are beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Very clean, I like that the floral is more of an art deco style than traditional Sheridan.

Cool, ditto Spinner - it's eye-catchingly simple and elegant.

Very nice. One of the reasons I got into leatherwork is to make a nice leather case for my Pedersoli clone of the Colt Lightning pump-action rifle. So leather rifle cases and scabbards really interest me. This one is very, very nice!

As goes with beauty - smooth, clean, sharp, shapely.

This is definitely a beautiful piece,

+1 on the carving design ... bold but simple ... ornate but clean.. nice. That's a LOT of backgrounding - got one arm bigger than the other ? :)

You're right, JLS. Most leather workers are bright enough to keep backgrounding to a minimum. Skeet

The three scabbards I've made...

Brushpopper, . . . I don't use a scabbard like this, . . . so I have to ask the question: how do you secure the scabbard to the very left if you want to use it with your horse? The other two I figured out as there are loops for leather straps.

But the one on the left is plain, . . . just need some guidance.

And before I forget, . . . yes, . . . they are beautiful. The tooling patterns are definitely unique.

Thanks, may God bless,

Dwight

Thanks, pards.

Dwight - there are occasional examples from the period of scabbards that have sling retainers only on the back. The aim is to not interfere with the tooling. For an example, have a look at page 91 of Cowboys and The Trappings of the Old West.

Thank you, . . . thank you, . . . I thought maybe that may be the deal, . . . but sometimes the obvious is not the right answer.

When I made Tony's earlier this year, . . . I messed up the first one (punched a hole in the wrong place), . . . so I have a piece of leather hanging and waiting for me to decide to make mine, . . . and I just may do some tooling on it, . . . but it surely won't be as intricate as yours. Maybe a rose up at the top,..............

May God bless,

Dwight
