Maybe a little smoother in the matting around the cross (probably the angle and the glare making it show up as much), and then there's that spot on the back panel. There is some camo stamping around the perimeter of the cross, and considering I am trying to make a low cost cover, I spent as little time as possible to get semi decent tooling. I agree, it could have been smoothed out a bit more for my preference, and the angle really does catch the light wrong and highlight the issue. What if a guy was to sew a thin leather book mark to the inside front cover so you could put it between pages when you close it. Do you think that would work? or would it tear up the pages? Most any craft store will have ribbon in various widths and colors. Or if a guy uses leather lace, you could use that as well (though if you mark mulitiple pages like I do, that might create enough bulk to not be good for your book binding). I have been known to buy these ... though a guy with a scrap of leather and some ribbon could easily make them from "scraps" . Yep. Actually have some of the same frustrations that a lot of others have, so I mix up my own to get a much more subtle result that I can apply only to the areas I want, instead of the whole piece. I have made a ton of bookmarks. Those tooled were 5/6oz leather. No complaints. Then I did some thinner ones recently .5/1oz, but I laser engraved them. They are almost paper thin. I love the look of leather bookmarks, but they are usually too thick for my books, especially if it is a paperback book (those bindings are usually glue and the pages come out easily in my experience.)
