Yeah, there is no doubt about how the global media has been and still is weaponized against that man. -
What are some tools that changed your leatherwork?
MarshalWill replied to Kenzi's topic in Leather Tools
I can't say any specific tools improved my working. That said, Any good quality tool does make your work better. Don't get cheap ones, you'll just wind up replacing them in the long run. -
I like knives better for skiving than special purpose tools. In the photo, all but the middle general purpose knife work great, depending on the type of skiving I'm doing.

I am going to recommend you get a nice wet stone & a good strop board to keep all your knives sharp. Then spend some time practicing how to properly sharpen your tools. -
Are you wanting to wrap the belt drive to update the drive surface of is this more of for a show cover? If it’s a show cover what you were talking about with a tooled IH emblem and put an end cap on it with Dwight’s tooling idea would look pretty cool. If you’re try to update the drive surface wrapping it might be challenging as the pulley is crowned. Wrapping it will also slightly change the gear ratio when you go to use it, but probably not enough to really affect anything. Yesterdaystractor.com sells parts for old tractors and they also have a forum there. If you’re wanting to rebuild the pulley someone there might be able to guide you along. Good luck and post some pictures when you get it restored.

My quatermoonknife by a swiss knife factory - forgot the name and am too lazy to check. I would by now probably rather buy a Solingen Pik Ass, as they are cheaper here (and are supposed to have superior Quality) also I live somewhat close to Solingen. But since I own that knife and especially learnt how to use it, my leatherwork became much more intricate and life so much easier! -

Looking for any information on how to properly mount an industrial sewing machine to a submerged table top. More specifically, what mounts are needed if any to attach any of the Union Special 30000 and 50000 series machines. Or point me in the direction where I can get answers to question about older Union Special industrial machines on how to set them up and customize them for other uses.

It depends on which Singer 107W you have, not all have bottom feed only.

Hi - I have a Juki LS-341N and would like to buy a few parts. I have the engineering and parts manuals so i know the Juki part #s but I am having trouble finding a reliable source to buy those parts as my machine is not listed when I try to find comparability. Any recommended websites where I can buy replacement parts? The Juki website has links to view/search/buy inventory but they require a login and I don't see a way to get one. Is there a current machine model (Juki or other brand) that uses the same parts so they would be interchangeable with my LS-341N? Thanks for the help.

Pictures are too small to see any detail. Resize the original pics to 800 pixels in the longest dimension and we should be good to go with lots of detail.

Are either of these machines any good?
Wizcrafts replied to timstips's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
All upholstery shops have walking foot machines. Every now and then they buy a new machine and retire an older one. Call around to any upholstery shops to see if or what they have available to sell. If a walking foot machine is still in good working condition, it may sell for between $500 and $800. Anything less means the machine is in questionable condition. A bonus of buying a used upholstery machine is that they seller knows how to thread, oil and adjust the machine. They can demo the machine for you, and may even teach you how to take care of it yourself. This is worth a lot of good karma, and will save you headaches down the road. A lot of new members on LWN ask basic operating questions because the bought a machine from somebody that didn't know anything about it, and couldn't demo or explain its operation. Another option is to try to locate an industrial sewing machines dealer near you, go there in person, and buy a new or used machine after getting hands-on instructions. -
Fixed it for you!

Thanks kgg. I found her video this morning and it solved my problem. I did watch from the beginning.

Here is a good threading video for the CB341 starting at about the 8:11 mark for the tension disc. You should really view it from the beginning just to cover off any other potential problems. kgg

Thank you. I have an older C.S. Osborne round knife as well and love it. I got given a lot of tools when I first got started and I am just figuring out how to use all of them. Have you compared the maul to a Barry king? I currently have a Barry king maul and I love it although when I tool for extended periods it gets quite uncomfortable to hold.

I recently had someone request something with the Louis Vuitton inlay. Where are y’all getting yours?

Tooling - Wayne Jueschke stamps and mauls, the mauls are ergonomic for me and the stamps are about as fine of an impression as you will find. Knives - I still go back to my Dozier knife. I have had knives from about everyone and I still will never part with the first Dozier. Bob Dozier no longer makes knives. Tooling bench - I have a granite inspection plate inlet into a bench I made. Solid support underneath. No bounce and the only noise is the soft "tink" of the maul striking the stamp. -
Apologies for my deplorable spelling in my response above. Skiver, skiving. 🙄
