I am wondering if anyone here braids bull ropes. I have never made one and would like all the info I can find about making them. I know a few guys here that ride so I am hoping to maybe break into the market for them and supply ropes for their adventures. If anyone has any information such as a pattern, lenght, even a supplier for the material to braid them out of I would really appreciate knowing. Thanks all, Joe

I've made some 8 strand round braid with a core handles (photo attached) and I'd like to attach them to bags... Should I just attach them akin to the same most common way people attach rolled handles? Except with a braided handle I would need to fabricate the folded pouch/flap section and glue and stitch the braid in the back part of the pouch (so you couldn't see the stitched from the front) and then sew the pouch/flap to the bag? I've seen smaller metal cup situations, where the braid is glued into a metal cup that has a clip on the end, but they are all too small and I don't trust the weight of a larger bag in that situation... OR I know there are braid…

So I am making some shoes, photo below, what I want to do is to have a braided finish to the top. I have 3m of 3mm wide suede lacing on order (dark red). I was thinking of doing a Mexican round braid but I fear that may come up too thick / bulky, so i wanted to know is there a better pattern for this application, my main aim is to have a contrasting edge & to hide my poor sewing machine skills Any advice welcome, & thanks (the grey liner will be trimmed back)

Came across a recent video on bosal making. Well done and superb craftsmanship, IMO!

Good morning, ive been trying to wrap my head around the maths for figuring out my string size for a braided bosal core. I’m used to working in mm rather than inches and fractions, so it’s taking more brain power than expected! im wondering if it’s as simple as taking the core size I want to achieve, and dividing that by the number of strings I want to use to find out what size strings I should use. this is what I usually do for kangaroo lacing, but this is my first time messing with rawhide so not too sure if it’s a different story. thanks again !

Hello I just picked up Bruce Grants Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding and looking for a source for leather lace. So for someone just starting out is any of the leather lace that Tandy sells on the rolls good for braiding or would I be better off getting a lace cutter from Tandy and using scrap leather to make my own lace, which would be the best way to go to learn braiding? Thanks all Bruce

I might be thinking way to deep into this, but what is this leather and what thickness(see photo)? Where would you purchase this leather from. I have a lace cutter so I prefer to make my own. Thank you for you wisdom First post in a forum, so apologies for late replies.
