Kate's instructions have been copied into a PDF file A while back I had posted my biker wallet pattern, and a few people have asked me for more detailed information on how these wallets are put together, as it is not intuitively obvious from just looking at the pattern pieces. It took me a few tries to figure out the construction sequence; the pieces have to go together just right, or you paint yourself into a proverbial corner! I usually cut the interior pieces from some very light calf skin. But I'm out of that, and I really wanted to do this demo this weekend, so instead I used some light-weight chap/upholstery leather I had laying around. It does not sew up…

Back when I was younger and had all my hair, I decided I wanted to make my own belt rather than settling for what I could get from the store. So, I asked some advice from one of them "experts." I says, "How long do I make it?" He says "Add four inches." "Mmm-kay. Add four inches to what" At which point I got a crash course in rocket science that I didn't want or need. So, I did what most folks do and measured out my old belt. That worked. But then a feller asked me to make him one. Mmm-kay. Now I'm in trouble. Moral of the story is I got tired of the hit and miss, the re-do's, and utterance of profane syllables. So, I created the little tutorial posted here and want t…

I have been tooling for many years and have always used patterns from books, pasting pictures together, etc. I have Pete Gorrell's book as well as design artistry (Baird) and 4-5 Chan Geer books. I am SO *(#)(*&$ frustrated that I can't draw a design that I like. They come out too stemmy, to much background, or usually so crowded that the stem and leaves are bigger than the flowers. IS THERE A RULE OF THUMB or at least a consensus on belt patterns!?!?! l know to start at the tip (duh!) but when drawing, do you place your flowers and leaves and fill in the blanks? and if so, do you draw the stems up from the bottom or down from the top? I know it sounds stupid but …

Hey guys and gals, I'm going to be releasing a pattern pack soon, and I was wondering what else I should include in the pack. So far, I have an assortment of pouches, weapon holders (axe, knife, sword hanger, etc.), vambraces (forearm armor), wristbands, headbands, drinking vessels, mug straps, and a couple of hats. These will be "CopyLeft" and do not require credit to myself. Anyone can freely distribute or alter the patterns in any way. The only thing that I ask is DO NOT SELL THE PATTERNS. Let me know what kinds of patterns you would like to see in the pack. I also have a few steampunk patterns, but I'm not sure that I want to release those just yet. Patterns…

Edited: Use this link https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-4Qszr7V8BTZ285RFVEQVdxNVU/preview?pli=1 I have FREE patterns for 17 purses, handbags, and other bags. Also a backpack, laptop bag, a baseball cap, bushman hat, fedora, and a newsboy cap. Oh, and a really cool motorcycle sissy bar bag (I’m planning to do this one first). Patterns are in PDF form (which I converted from DXF files I found on the Web), so they'll need to be sized. The patterns pieces are labeled in Spanish and I am not fluent in the language but I don’t see that as a showstopper. It’s pretty easy to tell what the pieces are. I will share these patterns with anyone who is interested, and I’d love to …

I've had a lot of fellow leatherworkers ask how you make a four slot bifold with minimal bulk while maintaining a slim and sleek profile. The question of the 'T' slot always comes up. I decided to put together a printable set of directions as well as a basic pattern you can cut out and use for trying it out. I would love to get any feedback on this as well as see any results. If you're still struggling with the concept, feel free to let me know and I can try to explain further. I hope this is of some help! 4-Slot Bifold Directions.pdf Additional Link to Google Drive PDF

Leather Roses 1 2

Hi everyone, Looking around the web I have seen leather roses and other leather flowers. I can think of a lot of projects that I'd love to use these 3D flowers for, and they look like a cool way to use up some scrap. Does anyone know where I can find patterns or instructions? The shapes look easy enough to make, but I'm not sure how I would put them together. I have a couple of ideas, but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if I don't have to. I'd happily pay, but I'm not sure which instructions out there would be best. Thanks in advance.
