  1. Ok, John....now make sure you will not tell anybody, and I mean not even ur girlfriend!!!!""......that I told you that.....go to Tandy's catalog, read messurements for wallet....cut paper to this size....then look ur neighbors wallet up for inside desing....cut paper just as u like the inside, according to outside messures.....transfer to leather....sew, dye, hammer or else....and ur done......then take it all apart and make thin fiber-sheat pattern for ur later use!!! There is ur pattern.... Remember, u promissed not to tell anybody... greetings Jimbob
  2. Try to open both plates and peep under neath the needle when u turn around ur handwheel....the hook should come around just when the needle window is getting real close ( 1/16 or so...) if this works, check ur hook, is it smooth no burrs....change needle and try again, make sure u have fed the bobbin thread against the turn of the shuttle....also make sure as mentioned....the bobbin thread comes into the little slot of your bobbin holder and then underneath the shuttle wing....out the plate opening... let us know....and please copy this thread to "sewing machines"....there are tons of guys on this forum that can help u out!!! James
  3. Love ur gun rigs....if I remember right u have shown off some other superb gun leather...liked them all very well, fine craftsman ship!! james
  4. Ok, lets say I am completly out of my mind and have way Overestimated my skills.....and further I like to try to Do a portrait of my two kids....what would be essential, Like tools, pictures, how to and how to make it where people can tell these carvings are actually my two babies....haha where do I start!? I have done a few dogs....but never a human....I can Draw pretty good.....but carving a portrait???? All help is needed.... Thanks Jimbob
  5. Read all the good comments.....went into the kitchen, got me a trashbag.....cut it to a single layer.....layed it on my damp leather....layed my paper drawing on top....used cheap Tandy's stylus and went after it....works great!! Been using tracing paper for 15 years....NO more....haha.... Thanks ya all.... James
  6. Mike.... Good enough for me...haha....and you are right, when loaded with ammo the stitches are not vissible......well, guess I am just to picky...hehe... I wish I could lay down more time for those great cowboy rigs I have in my head, so many gun leather I like to produce and so little time... Agin, thank you very much for your input and kindness!! Greetings James
  7. Thanks Wiz.... Been using orange thread on a 2 oz spool.....the small spool may have something to do with it...!? Other then that I feed exactly as u told.....will try Smaller needle.....see what that does! Do u think there should be a flat spiral spring inside the bobbin case....right under the bobbin...? Fixing to finish a killer seat for a friend.....if a man just had more time.....these 12 hour swing shifts are not made for people with lots of hobbies...hahaha... Thanks for all.... James
  8. Just an update on my Singer 211-155.........got her going again, thanks for the info Wiz....dropped the needle a bit....hook starting partially to pick up bottom thread, then needle back to zero....dropping needle bar a tad....almost got the bottom thread....bit more, about 1/16th above the hook when coming around and BINGO...bottom thread picked up every time! Sews like a champ now, every now and then it seems like it has to much top tension....for about 2-5 stitches....then little knots disapear back into leather...adjusting tension (looser) will get top thread back into stitching holes....but then after a few inches it does that again....!? nothing major and I could live with that.....but wonder what causes that. Now here is a question, is there a spring supposed to be inside the bobbin case....like some house hold machines have! Mine does not have one.....could this be a reason...? Well, so much on the update, thanks for all info and "Wizdom".... Greetings James
  9. Been tooling my heart out on a tan colored bike seat and passenger pad....friend of mine wants it in natural leather/tan color....finally, not a black seat.....now I am planing to seal it with gud 'ol Neatslac....had very good results so far.....the leather is still dry after tooling....CAN I use some oil....neatsfoot oil and give it a good rub.....and then add Neatlac?? Or will the oil hinder the Neatlac to stick to my seat....there is also some washed out coloration involved.....but I think I need to oil it to be ready for final sealing.....I am I thinking right??? Thanks for all input.... James

  11. Hey 276ccm..... Are you still arround...this is an older thread....but I wondered any time I come by here and check u out....do you wet form and attach the leather to the seat and THEN tool the leather....if you have foam underneath that would not work...?? How do you tool AFTER wet forming??....how do you support the leather when it is already shaped..... Greetings to u and your country.... Thanks James
  12. Nice work, pal...I love the design....totally my style....I am into skulls and alien....also some fantasy stuff...make sure u send pictures to show the finished work here...!! Aloha james
  13. Is there a way to sew loops for cartridges to a gunbelt with a sewing machine....do you continiously sew or do you back tack for each loop...what pressure foot would be needed...thinking it has to be VERY narrow...? Any input...thanks so much.. james
  14. OK, all has been said here for cardridge loops on gun belts...I think..? Well, all made manually....now lets say I am lazy and just burning to use one of my sewing machines to do cardrige loops....how in the heck would that work?? I sew a strap's end to a gunbelt, then put bullet in, mark....then sew again...well, how is that exactly working...I do have to lift the pressure foot to the new location...(top of the next loop....but what about the top and bottom thread going cross the existing loop....Hmmm...guess I need some help... Anybody does loops with a sewing machine...and what fressure foot would be great for that?? Thanks.... James

  19. scott, go and buy you a large cheap office folder, the one with 4 metal rings (ringfolder?) remove the rings from base and use the holes to rivet to top flap....makes nice stiffener. Or go to Lowes or Homedepot, buy some 1 inch or a bit wider aluminum flats....drill, rivet...done....makes great stiffener and makes your bag look square too!! James
  20. my little man at home would say: woooow, dude that's awesome, dude....!!!! of course it is awesome and the tooling is just outstanding.....could use little more flames and a skull here and there.... I also would like to pull my hat....it is a plessure and great honor to have such great artwork and outstanding craftman ship among us here in this forum!!!! Thanks for sharing, this will make most of us try to reach higher standards....an inspiration, that's for sure.... Ohhh, and if u ever do one with flames and skulls....please show it....haha... Jimbob
  21. Top notch seat.......like the flames....wonder what beveler u used.....? Seems like it has a some-what flatter angel.....makes it look more broad! Good color selection, very nice dye job.....lacing seems perfect....almost a tad to fine for the style of seat.....all over design is simple, well thought and a big chunk of "old school" thinking.....well, I guess u get an "A plus" for that one....hahaha....now get back to work and show us some more... Greetings
