  1. I am looking for an ADLER model 30-15 or such...like to find one in light gray, very good operating condition?! Maybe not older then early 50tees... Need head only, no table /stand needed.... Will be willing to trade Rossi 44 special in mint condition, Fujifilm DSLR s 1 Pro with 50mm 1.8....this is a mint professional digital SLR camera!! Or cash/partial trades...? Please let me know what ADLER 30 style machine you have...!? Thank you James
  2. McJeep I use 3-4oz veg tan.....works well on tooling and is still enough flexible to be a good outer cover for a biker wallet. I like to use 2-3oz veg tan for inner liner.... Latly I am using lots of chrome tan for liner and inside Pockets..... Greetings James
  3. yup, practice, practice, more practice....can u tell I am still doing it too....practice!! U get there, soon....u'll see!! Good luck!! James
  4. double dito on Toledo Bob....nicest guy you can met....he is very helpful and even if you steal his valuable time on the phone asking silly questions...( I do...) he still answers them all!! Greetings Jimbob
  5. Rockhewer All said is true, I wanted a slower more controllable machine (Singer 211-155) so I thought about a cheap pulley....then I opted for a servo motor.....already had one on an Adler.... These servos from "Toledo Bob" are the bomb, they work extraordinary well!! ( ...me beginner too...!!) And these roller guides on a flat table machines are really helpful...I have a single roller guide on my big Adler and use it on belts!! Wiz... I love you international, stout machine....love it...and also the attatements....(guides ) ....if a man can hold a file and able to drill a hole, these guides can be made at home! Greetings and tnx for all the good info here from all of you!! Jimbob
  6. this is an old thread....but I just learned to do this edge binding with my ol trusty Singer 211-155G.....very nice...and I used it on a large backpack and a new purse for a customer to hide the edges....workes great and looks so pro! Love it....thanks for showing!! james
  7. important word I read there>>> SAFETY!!!<<< Yes it could be a real issue and eventually a legal mess, or worse if you have a Mastiff or a Rottweiler on a pretty to look at collar...nice rivets, glas stones and colorful thread.....cool....then this 150 plus pound animal gets spuked or sees a critter to chase...U are in deep dodoo, if this pretty collar is not made in a safe way!! So first important issue is as read >>SAFETY!! and yes, latigo is a good choice on the inside....then a good second layer of 7-8 oz veg tanned on the outside...glued and stitched!! Make shure the hard ware is not from your local co-op store....use first quality d-rings (doubble them ) and use top notch carabine hooks...use at least 138 thread...seal with good wax or neatlac...I think brass is ok, if you keep it clean... Oh, and yes....spikes, red suede and hog hair on a traditional English mastiff collar looks sooooo good!! I have to fat girls, one brindle English Mastiff and an apricot one.....over 300 pounds together....a force to be recond with...so lets make safe and good looking collars!! Good thread here....hope more people chime in... Jimbob

  16. Start setting ur bottom tension....pull on bobbin thread this should be a pretty firm feel to the pull..... Then make shure ur pressure foot has plenty pressure... adjust top screw....firm leather needs more pressure... now test stitch...make sure right size needle(use new needle) Matches ur thread....possible go one size smaller... then start watching ur nots apear or disapear on your top stitch....knots on top is to much tension, try to oil Or wax ur thread if u can..... See if that gets u sewing... Let us know details about ur set-up!! Aloha James
  17. Small harbour freight cheepo air angle grinder works on all foams...I use 80 grid for fast removal, 120 for slickening....220 for licking it clean....remember if its off u cant put it back on....haha.....so be careful!! james
  18. got my 31-15 for hundred bucks, head only....so you did OK.....if it turns and eventually sews u are in good shape.....they ussually make a nice tight stitch....they are tuff bugggers.....cant do much more then 92 on top, some people run 138 on top?! Been arround for a long time....these 31-15 to my knowledge have been used in the Navy a lot!! NOT a heavy machine, but nice to have for light stuff....get you a roller foot from Toledo Bob....works great! I need to look up my needles....have so many different systems running.....but I think they do 135X16?? not shure... Jimbob

James
