  2. The blue zippers hurts my eyes.....sorry.....just to much of a contrast to the tan leather....now if we add some more colors, then they eye says wow.....sort of funky and interesting! Not trying to knock it to hard....the shoulder straps need to form more of a ri-angle....so they wont slipp of ur shoulder. Guess how I know that....haha.... And one last one, try to use a weld inbetween ur major seems....so they are stronger and wont show the thread under stress (bottom).... Ur style is very urban and nicly slick...I like that. Be proud of what u created and improve as u go.....and about a dozens backpacks later it dawnd on me.....wow....there is still things to improve,,,,haha..... Greetings from a fellaw backpack builder Jimbob
  3. I am looking for UT Tennessee chonchos, either as a stand alone "T" or as round/oval concho with the "T" inside.....size should be large enough for a 1 1/2 " men's belt....silver color, or the "T" maybe in orange and white...?!! As rivet-on or srew back.... Anybody has any idea where to get those conchos for a reasonable price....?? Thanks so much... Greetings James
  4. Question: Friend of mine has a singer 128 with so called bullet shuttle....I have a Singer 99K and some other Singers witht the standard rotating round shuttle.....these two systems seems to have been produced side by side for many years....we are now wondering what is the reason for that....? Does the bullet style shuttle has any advantige to the rotating shuttle.....? Was it cheaper to produce or meant for more heavy dudty work?? Just a few thoughts from two Hobby sewing machine freaks...hahaha... Thanks for the input!! Jimbob

  12. Thanks for all the info.....most of the leads are more than I can afford for 2-3 oz leather.....but over all leather has gotten so terrible expensive since 2 years ago....no fun in buying leather any more...!! And then there is Tandy, low quality....no good service and the guy on the phone has no clue what he is talking about... Well, I called Tandy in desperation....seems like they have some 2-3 oz on sale and the dude said it is fairly well quality.......so guess what, I will jump the gun and try Tandy's....we will see... I keep ya all posted!! Thanks Jimbob
  13. Thanks 276..... Been busy myself, shiftwork, kid's and some leather work for customers...always something going on!! wonder if you tool first and then wet form would you not save time....I dont see a reason for wet forming, then flatten it all out again to do your tooling, then wet form it again. Just kind of wondered how you do this.....regardless, your work is great and I have been seen some of your pinstriping and gold leafing....soooo cool !! I am old school, love that stuff very much!! It is amazing to me how advanced you guys up there in Northern Europe....you are miles ahead of all these so called chopper guys here in the state...heheee,,,like Sweden and Finland, they just rock in the old school scenes...Germany has some of it....dont know much about Norway...hahaha... Anyway, good talking to you....thanks for your info and help!! Greetings Jimbob
  14. Ahhhhhhh, tannins....in tea...hmmmm, need to try that....thanks a bushell!! James
  15. Barge is a great ( expansive) cement, it actually will work when materials are wet....which is good for elastic and forming properties....! Now here is the problem on gluing a seat only (under the skirt )....it will by moisture, pressure and heat, which is present on any seat, shift....over time it will allow the skirting material to wrinkel and will not hold the stretched material which gives a upholstered seat its appereance!! ( Think vinyl upholstery...) Staples and rivets will keep shape and form of a seat for a very long time! There is a reason for permanet fixing a stretched material ( skiting veg tan leather should be arround 2-3 oz max ) on a foamed seat pan.....Also one reason people, including myself, do glue the top seat (carved part ) to the foam...it will be somewhat elastic, but still hold the top shape of the carved seat part! I had for years now very positive results on using staples and few rivets on foamed skirted seats. And I am talking here skirted foamed seats only....I do my hard ass NO FOAM seats with Barge on both sides and then stitch, lace or screw...!! Please take this only as my opinion, I am always open to new ways of doing things in leather and related materials.....so actually many ways work for many different people! Just my little 2-cents of doing seats for bikes... Greetings James
  16. Ahhhhhhhh..............that's exactly what I needed.....thanks!!!!!
  17. Anybody ever do any gold leafing on veg tan leather,,,,,?? Been dabbling in pinstriping and gold leafing latly, since I do leather.....I was wondering if a man can do gold leafing on veg tan leather.....book binders do....but seems like they use heat to adhere their gold.....anybody has any information, glad to hear from ya all.....maybe see some pictures....that would be swell!! Thanks James
  18. what is ur seat pan made of.....plastic, metal or fiberglass....? Use upholstery staples on fiber and plastic, as mentioned use rivets with prefered air rivet gun on metal....need to pre-drill.....I do 99 % staples, with air stapler.....make sure u keep skirting leather good n wet....so it will stretch nicley and be snug when dry!!! Start on top and bottom, make sure u in center with seat/cover....then work around curves equally on both sides.....later trim with razor sharp knife and let dry....done!! Need more help, yell at me... greetings James
