  1. Curb chains might work on your bootstraps.
  2. Try a O size i think that what i used when i was hand sewing. If i can rememeber to look when i'm in the shop i'll check and make sure.
  3. I wouldn't get the ESP on the machine. You can turn the wheel just a little and do the same thing and save that money to spend on something else like tools or leather. JMO
  4. For 3,800.00 i would put a little with it and get a Pro 2000 from Ferdco and you will know you have a quality machine with service if you ever need it.
  5. Hi Justin, you have done some nice work for sure. I am another one that hates slide shows. Justin their a couple of things i think i would do different. One is make the font a little bigger so it's easier to read. On your pictures some of them are pretty busy with to many things in the background that draws a persons eye away from the what your selling. The headstall espically the one on the horns. In the saddle pictures thier's a tree sticking out all over the place. Maybe set them them to where it's just a sky back ground of up beside a barn with nothing else in the picture. Not real sure what to do their. I do know headsatlls are hard to get a good picture of, or i have a hard time anyway. On your saddle page the first saddle is setting on a hair on hide i guess or giant horse. Anyway to me it makes the saddle look tiny. The picture where the horses are tied to the trailer i would move the one horse and get a wider shot of the saddle where you can see all of it. Maybe crop some of the pictures tighter where is more about the saddles. The chinks on the chairs just doesn't work for me. I'm pretty poor at taking pictures and getting what i want or know they should look like. But that is the good thing about cameras now you take them all day and it doesn't cost anything. Hope you kill bear selling things. John
  6. It's a creaser you feed the right size strap into that roller and crank away and it will crease your strap.
  7. Ferdco might be able to help you out with part their Idaho. http://www.ferdco.com/content.php?page_id=1
  8. Mike is this the one you were looking for It's a Nat Geo one ?
  9. Type in windshield bag on the net. That should bring up several different kinds. I use 8/9 ounce for the body and 4/5 5/6 8/9 for the sides just what ever i have handy. 3 to 4 inches thick should be plenty room enough to get things in. Make sure he brings the bike by so you can measure and trial fit your patterns. Don't let him measure it for you !!! Or you will be sorry. People can't measure.
  10. It might be part of a back band. Looks like the straps ( can't remember what their called ) that hold the shafts on a buggy. Or i could be a 100% wrong to. Do you have horse handy to set on it's back to see how it fits ? I now i have seen some weird looking harness from Europe, or it looks weird to me.
  11. What i do is set the foot down what would be 4 or 5 stitches down and back stitch then come over and go on my way to the other end and back stitch.
  12. I would think it might be to long rather than to short. Most of those types of buckles are a inch or two bigger/longer than a regular buckle.
  13. I like you cat. That's pretty durn neat.
  14. Not sure what you want if anything. Do you need help with something ? One thing i see that should be done different is use bigger lace or punch a smaller holes in your holster so the holes are filled up or pretty much filled.
  15. No i though you were talking about the elastic. Then i reread what you wrote.
  16. I would paint the rose first then dye. But when you dye your going to have use brush for the dye around the rose till you get out a little ways. Or that's what has worked for me. Personally i don't like to paint and dye on the same piece, it's alot more work.
  17. You might want to roll them a little looser so they dry at the same rate or close to it. The way they are in the picture the outside pieces are going to dry quicker just from the air being able to get to them. Or it looks that way to me.
  18. Take a pair of dividers and mark where you want to stitch and sew. Any tooling stamping to you are able to do on whats left is going to be tiny because your going to have less a half inch left to work in.
  19. Looks like a made in China knockoff that will sew a 1/2 inch of leather. http://www.leightons.ca/catalog-general.html
  20. What did you hit the punches with a sledge hammer ? I've used several different white cutting boards for 20 years and never had anything like that happen before. Never had one stick in the boards either that i can remember and i guess like most ever body i have had some cheap punches at one time.
  21. You strap is faceing the wrong way it needs to be behind you. If you walk through some brush the way it is now theirs a good chance it will get snaged and come undone and you may lose your knife.
  22. I just looked at that machine and it said 7/16 max.
  23. Leather Bum if you have a Wal Mart or maybe a K Mart get one of the white cutting boards. They work fine and cost around 10.00 for a good sized one. I cut on mine and punch on it to. You need to get some of the rubber mat stuff they put in cabinets to keep dishes from sliding and put it under the cutting board because their pretty slick unless you screw it to you bench.
  24. Steve i just took a look at your blog. You do some mighty nice work. Think i'll go get some scrap foam and leather and see how things work out. Thanks for the links Steve and Steve.
  25. I've been wanting to try do inlays on some things do you have any pictures of the ones you did ? Plus it's always nice to see pictures of a hand built saddle.
