  1. Thanks Mark. You coming in for a wednesday night bull session?
  2. As the date draws near for the delivery of my saddle tree I made myself a bouncer out of a porcelain door knob I bought. I liked the results so I bought some more knobs and made another example.
  3. Just wandering by to return the hellos. Making more tools for saddle making than I am leather working. I hope my saddle tree comes soon!

  4. Found some door knobs and made myself a bouncer. Liked the results so I tried a different version.
  5. HAllo! I hope that your spring weather has come and it is nice where you are.

    Tim

    Marble Man Mask

Very cool, I especially like the marble effect very much! I have used a feather to do faux painting of marble but not an air brush/gun. Great tip!
  8. I did try the deadblow hammer and it looked like the face of it wouldn't stand up to years of abuse. I use a two pound maul I made myself for punches. Let the hammer do all the heavy work.
  9. 问候和欢迎皮革工人站点。 在座的许多友好人士对回答您的任何问题。我期待着看到你。 My Chinese not good too.
  10. 4.54 litres to the imperial gallon and 3.8 liters to the US gallon.... interesting. I need to call my insurance guy because I must not be getting the best rate! We have to have insurance in Arizona but there seem to be a lot of people that scoff at the law and drive without it. I always here about some one getting in an accident and the other fella didn't have it.
  11. Looks Pretty good! I have been practicing my block dying technique to get this. I wrapped a small block of particle board with some cotton pillow ticking and use it like a stamp pad on the leather moving it around the edge in a random fashion. I think maybe in on of the Tony and Kay Laier books block dying is discussed.
  12. Still I have no Heart-fu greater than yours.

  13. You have got a great model with Mr Gus there! Nice looking saddle too! Could be I have been drawn to the same haunt! You can also see a picture of my "haunt" saddle in the book "COWBOYS & the Trappings of the Old West" also. A lot of the saddles in the book are pictures of saddles in the Fleischer Collection. The Fleischers live here and Mort is a big collector of western trappings. Once upon a time his collection of saddles, spurs and gun leather was on display at a Museum in Scottsdale that has since closed.
  14. HA Knut, Awesome! I got the same tree on order from Bowden, they are putting Santa fe style hand holds in the Cantle back for me. I am going with Sam Stagg rigging, covered rings, side jockeys and tooled only with the stamps I have made. This is based on a saddle I saw in the Fleisher collection museum before they closed. I have a picture of it in a book for inspiration too. I have got the leather and I am itching for the tree to be delivered. Can't wait to get started. Seeing your saddle makes me wish it was here NOW! Nice work as always! /Tim See it here in the lead picture of this Magazine article
  15. Some sources dispute the source of neatsfoot oil. Pure versus compound and all that has been a oft overheard debate. I am thinking I will start using olive oil but no oleo for my leather goods.

  17. Just adding a bump to your question because I am also interested in how to best use the creaser tool.
  18. Congratulations Steve! I hope this is the year I can buy one of your fine machines for my shop!
  19. Sorry I thought you were asking about edge finishing/ edge burnishing. That is why I steered you to the Bob P tutorial. I looked too fast at your picture but now I see you have the creaser lines circled. I haven't used the creaser tool so I don't have any input on that but now I am also interested in anyone with a tutorial on it's use.
  20. Like Doc says Bobby Parks has a great tutorial on edge finishing and I highly recommend it. A project just ain't done until the edges are done. Click here to go to his Tutorial
  21. Wild beats my heart to trace your steps,

Whose ancestors, in days of yore,

Thro' hostile ranks and ruin'd gaps

    Old Scotia's bloody lion bore:

Ev'n I who sing in rustic lore,

Haply my sires have left their shed,

And fac'd grim Danger's loudest roar,

    Bold-following where your fathers led!
