  1. SOmetimes happens, and sometimes pretty tough to see it coming. So sometimes, like on this one where they need to match, I dyed the mahogany panels for the holsters AND the mag pouches (not yet done) at the same time and THEN cut out the pieces.
  2. Subtle tones and stylish layout. You prove again that "observation is 9/10 of the law" I like the finished product even better than I already liked the carving.
  3. Hey, thanks! Tricky part here was getting the gun to ride as low as he wanted it, but still be on the belt!
  4. SHOOOT .. assa wrong one! Here ya go...
  5. preciatecha Her's a new shot .... still no finish applied, just a little elbow grease buffin'
  6. That's a cool tip, and it's SO WAY refreshing to hear somebody openly state that he didn't INVENT EVERYTHING that ever existed
  7. ORdered small, simple cutting die. Thought I should make sure they had current address and card on file, called em up at Intl Die, found out the die I ordered THE DAY BEFORE was DONE and ready to ship out Can't say enough about these folks.. email em a drawing, tell em how you want to pay, git ta cuttin'
  8. Have you tried one size bigger needle? Sounds like you gittin' "stuck" at the hole on the bottom side.
  9. I asked, and per R.D. at SLC, these ranger belt "parts" have about 1" between holes, and about 3" from last hole to the tip point. Shoot if I didn't fergita ask the leather WEIGHT they cut these from, but I assume it's around 7 er 8 oz. Might save Rusty answering the same question a dozen more times. https://www.springfieldleather.com/1-Natural-Billet-Set_2
  10. Lengths are easily adjusted -- really the only consideration as far as "holding one" is teh diameter of the shaft. You can try varying amounts of knurl on the barrel, some more course than others, but the main thing you'll want to consider is how big it is around, which you should be able to tell right there at Tandy. Ask em to show you a 3/8" diameter and a 1/2" diameter. There IS a bit of difference, much like your airbrush example. I tried the 1/2" and didn't care for it -- maybe Im just used to the narrower one, don't know. Beyond that, you WILL have people trying to sell you the most wonderfullest cooliest most bestest knife ever made that your great grandchildren will be proud of you for having the vast wonderful insight to choose. But it won't likely cut better than the others. Go to the tandy, ask em git out a couple different ones, and a piece of leather damp on a table. Most of them have this for various "classes" they have.
  11. Nah, no gun required. I'll just do like you already see everywhere.... leave the stitch line where it is, "mold" it in to fit your pencil,.call it a "custom" fit ... you know the rest of the story
  12. his web site lists sales@ihlusa.com
  13. Couple rigs for a fella down south .. colors was his idea. Pic in teh gallery. Actually mahogany dye, but "black n mahogany" doesn't flow well as "black n burgundy" eh? Double mag pouch for each to follow afore long ...
  14. From the album: Stuff 'n' things

Glock 43 and S/W shield 9mm, Buyer requested these colors - I dinna think I'd care for it, but truth is now that I see it I don't mind it at all. Still need to make double mag pouches for each, but at least remembered to dye the leather to match while I was doing these. Why did I name this file "whip"? Why not?@!#!
  15. A matter of hours from the question to not only the answer, but the specs too
  16. What is an Ian? Oh, wait -- I think I know. Nah, I wouldn't have seen that.
  17. Nah, I looked at it. Then gagged for just a second. Then looked at it second time, like ... REALLY?@! Then deleted the message with the pics. Ridiculous part is, there ARE some who like that belt. And sad part is, there will be many who will try to do "just enough" with brown dye and turquoise paint to appear to be "the same" as the original guy, whose belt may have looked quite nice. This was no doubt one of those bad immitations. I assume that the person who contacted me KNEW that, or else they would have contacted the person where they found the picture. UNLESS, of course, that person is one of those who thinks he/she should git $40/hour, and plans on taking DAYS to make a belt ..
  18. Oh - well that's about the LEATHER. I thought you meant them OTHER folks.. you know the ones -- wen't to high school in Yugoslavia (or whatever)... in teh french foregin legion (or whatever) til I was older, then worked as a yutubetramp til I was even older ... And other assorted BS having nothing to do with what I'm trying to buy Do your programs not allow you to use transparent backgrounds?
  19. If you want to use a clip, you could use a regular clipboard. Just wrap it. Or, kydex will sit in there forever without rotting, doesn't absorb moisture, and can be drilled for the clip rivets. WAIT .. by clips, I assume you mean this type of clip, not the RINGS sometimes found in a binder? https://www.target.com/p/composite-clipboard-brown-up-up-153/-/A-13319535?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Seasonal%2BShopping_Local&adgroup=SC_Seasonal&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9018109&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1246978&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Seasonal+Shopping_Local&adgroup=SC_Seasonal&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9018109&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIntWjzPjP3gIVgbrACh2q3g6sEAkYCyABEgIdLPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  20. I'm not one to really care about your "about" page -- most of it just made up BS anyway (I mean web sites in general). But in the end, I want a GOOD PRODUCT, and I don't much care HOW you got there, or who works for you, or if you grow your own cows. None of that matters to me -- Im interested in the PRODUCT I"m buying. Not once have I been in a store and asked a cashier about what else they do, unless she's SO cute she got me temporarily NOT thinking about what I'm here to buy (which has happened, though not frequent ). Never asked one about the interview for their job, or what they did when they were younger. Don't care if she went to school for this position, or how long she's been doing it (though, that cute girl MAY be asked when she's done for the day, and if my buddy is with me she may be asked about any sisters ...).
  21. I perceive you may have missed my point No matter, all good. And this IS my job, or at least ONE OF them. i do not bilk an "employer" out of money for HIS business while I tend to mine. But I no longer have employees, so some think "not a business". I'm not opposed to employees, just haven't met any I'd care to keep. Side story -- I once got called on an "emergency"... the network was "down' at a law office. They could schedule appointments, see their INTERNAL files, but couldn't get out to use the internet, though email was working fine. At the time, "emergency" meant a significant charge for dropping what I'm doing and coming right there. Turned out, one of the receptionists had a date this weekend and was not able to shop the latest miracle bra (no, not kidding) and she was perfectly willing to spend a few hundred dollars that were not hers to get it up and running right now. And apparently willing to cash checks for $40k per year to sit at someone else's desk bra shopping. But they have a "business"
  22. Those "leaf" tools too. They appear on Ebay every so often and ALWAYS bring a good amount. Top row of top pic, the two leaves and the rose likely bring as much as teh REST. Sorry, I'm not in the market fer 'em - just thought that might help. It's not only Monday, but I see I HAVE coffee - not made - but the water dispenser is empty
  23. Dude your site SUCKS Kidding, kidding .... looks pretty good. I aint big on bright white, but that could be my age showing? Looks pretty straight forward. I might have put "customizable products" last in the list -- likely more people to see it. But, the fact I would have done it that way MAY mean it's right the way it is + Loads quick + Keeps the shopper on the page - easy to get back to main page + Menu always accessible + Points out delay in ship time - Email link isn't a link? +/- "could" be a phone number helps. IF you're going to use a phone number, get a number that is FOR your business.
  24. I'm not offended. But you're saying two different things there. So, I'm not trying to persuade you - just thinkin' out loud here ... There is a place for "click and have it on my door in a day or two".. but I already declined an "invitation" to Amazon. Not my thing. Only time I have "stock" items are when sometimes when people order something, I make a second while I'm at it. OR, sometimes I have been known to make 3 of something just so I can do 3 different colors of that thing. So those git stuck on Cutesy, or sometimes go locally. Not looking for an "e-commerce" site in the "traditional" sense .. one reason being that might associate me in some people's mind with some recent scavengers. I've seen them, of course - they're everywhere. You can click some drop-downs, or select some option buttons, and then get notified that you can send money and hopefully get something in return in WEEKS or MONTHS. Now, seriously, if what you're getting a CUSTOM REALLY IS ONE OF A KIND item, or if Elvis wore it, then this would be valid. Otherwise, the site is just a con man wanting a 0% interest LOAN. You have a point about the "logo" (though that's not actually THE logo). I see my "slider" thing with pics isn't working - sometimes happens when too many people are over there downloading free stuff. From that standpoint, really can't be considered "commercial". But then, the "logo" (which is actually on the right side) doesn't bring anybody TO the page.. they don't see (or not see) that until after they're ALREADY THERE. But having this conversation got me admitting that I really am going to have to take care of that myself. Too many people these days have a "plug it into the formula" mentality -- which makes no sense when you're claiming to be NOT like all the rest I'm not looking for a "template". "Leather" web sites recently seem to be 1 of 2 things: "watch this pretty video that drags out a simple point, then click here to give me money", OR here's a nice piece of leather you can wait multiple weeks to get #hermannoak #wickett #blahblah #note, the, hashtags, all, the, same,as,the, other, guys If personal appearance is any indicator, I guess some "leather workers" main talent is having a snack. Maybe I could pack on about 50 pounds and make videos? I think the trick is to get a JOB, let somebody else PAY YOU to do something ELSE while you work on your patterns and your "social media" (I used to network computers, so i KNOW what employees are up to). I suppose it's trademarked and I can't use it, but I always liked that tag line by the motor oil company ... "If you can't TELL the difference, then why PAY the difference?" But I'm hardly "conventional", which my customers seem to appreciate. Yesterday I had a guy "order" a holster I'm not going to be able to get to - even start - for a couple of weeks. Sent payment in full. So I contacted the guy, let him know he can wait if he wants, or I can return his money if he'd like to shop somewhere else for a more immediate return. He decided to wait, so I kept the payment - not a lot of money and not worth the trouble of a credit, refund, re-purchase, etc. If it was going to be more like FOUR weeks, I would have returned his money and told him he's on the list and can pay when work begins. ____________________________________________ TURNING THE PAGE to a slightly more personal note: Happy Veteran's Day to all those hard-working honest boys ('n' girls) who served this country WITH HONOR. I don't mean every single body who got a check from the fed or ever had a stripe sewn on a sleeve - I'm talking to those with some spine, who did what they were intended to do, simply because it was their job. The ones who did it even when nobody at all was watching. That's a narrower group than most seem to think.. and the ones I'm talking to know who they are. They'll probably just read this, remember their service with a bit of a sense of pride. The others might well reply to "prove" ... i don't know what.
