  1. Hey Steve, I use the same type for thumb breaks. One rivet goes in the "top" hole which sticks out above the gun... the "bottom" hole is where the snap goes. At least thats how I do it. Eric
  2. I just recieved an e-mail from a customer... he managed to cut his finger pretty good on the edge of a metal clip that happens to be attached to a holster I made. This worries me... quite a bit. I'm an insurance agent by day. This could easily be a liability issue of some kind. Obviously I didn't make the clip (it was bought from Springfield Leather, no idea who actually makes them) but there has got to be a better alternative. Luckily the customer was very cool about it. He just wanted to give me a heads up. Still, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth....
  3. Does that mean I need to recall all of my holsters and leather goods because I use Bonded Nylon thread?? Just curious
  4. That's one opinion... but I've never seen any proof that stitching makes belt slots any sturdier. I'll do it for looks if requested, but it's not neccessary.
  5. Like he said... you need to move your wing belt slot down. In order to get the cant you need, it looks like you will have to add some extra leather to the design... make the wing sit lower. or just lengthen it.
  6. I have a few customers that have requested a type of cross-draw holster that rides nearly parallel to the belt. They are all avid MC riders and want something as comfortable as possible and easily accessible while driving or ridiing their bikes. I've seen them in the past refferred to as a "Driver's" holster or a "Carjacker" holster ( credit to Andrew's Custom Leather and Ross Leather ). Also, I think Mitch Rosen makes one with a belt clip. These are not something I normally offer and I have had no personal experience with this type of holster. IF I decide to make these holsters... I would like to come up with my own design, but there are only so many ways to skin a cat here. I guess I'm just looking for some guidance here Should I steer the customers in a different direction, spend the time to build and test my own version, or send them to one of the above mentioned shops?? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks.
  7. What's the best way to contact them? I sent an email last week about placing an order... still have not heard back.
  8. Try it. Move your stitch line by the slide out by 1/8th in. Don't mold it super tight. It will work just fine. Ask me how I know
  9. Overlay or inlay would be the way I would go. The glue shouldn't make a difference. See pic below... Oh, and don't forget to turn in your "Man Card" when finished
  10. I would definitely be interested in the 1 1/2" buckles as well!
  11. This is EXACTLY what I needed to see. The presser foot is the key... the ones I have either fit to right or left, which is why I don't have the room I need. What kind of foot is that... and does anyone know where I can find one for a Cobra Class 4 ??? Thanks!
  12. Thanks TwinOaks, I think that actually makes sense!
  13. Maybe I'm missing something here... but what is the best way to sew a metal clip onto a holster using a sewing machine? The left presser foot doesn't allow room to sew close enough to the clip. The right presser foot just falls off of the leather that I'm sewing...so the needle doesn't move forward. Is there a certain attachment that I should be using... or different method?? This should probably be in the "Sewing Leather" forum, but I guess it still involves a holster Hopefully this makes sense. See the pics for illustration.
  14. Just give them a call... ask for Heather. She gave me some great advice, and I ended up buying my own 20 ton arbor press and saving a bit of $$$
  15. Whoops...where did that "R" come from !? Yes... Maine Thread is what I meant.
  16. Good points Aaron... I haven't thought that far ahead, but I would certainly be willing to place the order and repackage / ship out the clips. I'm open to any ideas!
  17. I'm going through belt clips faster than usual. Weaver sells the same clips as Tandy, SLC, etc. but at a much lower price. The only problem is that they only offer the Nickel colored clips.... and I need black. They will powder coat the clips for a small fee, but a min order of 300 clips is required. The cost would be about $0.50 per clip which is MUCH better than $2.50 + from other suppliers. However, I don't really need $150 worth of clips. So I'm thinking if a few of us were to split the cost (i.e. $50 each for 100 clips each) it would be a good deal. If there is any interest please let me know Thanks Sixer
  18. I'm in... will give him a call this afternoon!
  19. I could be wrong... but 8k rpm seems like way too much. If you're going to fast you should probably be able to smell the fibers burning. That's not good. Are little pieces of leather coming off at all?
  20. Hmmm... thats no good. Wonder if there is any way to make it work???
