  1. Anymore pictures of the chic ?? What all of you where think'n it. I seen a lot of armor stuff lately . I'm amazed. Nice work man, very nice.
  2. I just tried two diff colors of the Antique Gels. Ummm, ,,, I don't like them. I don't like them at all. The Tan was Ok at best for me. I did 2 phone cases. Both of them i used the eco flow Ranger Tan. Then on one i used Fiebing"s Antque Tan paste and on the other i used the eco flow Gel Antique Tan. With the Fiebing the over all color changed very little. It did what it should and for the most part darken the tooled part only The Eco Flo on the other hand darkened the case as a whole. I aslo tried the Eco Flow Mahogany Antique over Ranger Tan. Hoping i would get a lot of lift if i just wiped it on and right off. NO !!! That didn't happen. It is now a nice dark Mahogany. Now for the plus. The Eco Flow Coal Black dye: it's as nice of a black as i've seen. Anyone that uses the Fiebing Black Oil dye might want to try it. That's what i've always used for black. Two coats and it's freakin black. The same goes for the Eco Flow Coal Black.
  3. With that title i thought for sure there was gonna be a picture of me . Whew.... That seat looks huge. I bet it's comfy though, i would also bet it's still smaller then what you would find on a "name brand" stock bike. It may be big but it is still very clean. Nice work Dave.
  4. Looks nice man. Very tight and i love that color. What color is that ?? The stitching looks great as well.
  5. WOW !!! no really WOW !!! That just blows my mind. Nice work man. Love all the in progress pics.
  6. Freakin nice man. dig this i just did a google on "how to tri weave" and on the top of the 4th page was a link to this thread. Now that rocks. So guess now you need to do a basic how-to. LOL !!
  7. I always hand the phone to my daughter. She's six now, it worked alot better when she was 3. After about 5 min of her asking them questions they would hang up.
  8. I'm glad you put a ruler on it. It didn't look that small untill you did, Which means you did an excellent job on it. Very nice !!
  9. Welcome to the forums. Glad you found us. I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your work. Long , long , long time ago i did some runnin around in the backwoods of SoCarolina . I haven't been back though since i was 19. The picture is me one day before my 19th birthday. Feels like yesterday but yet it feels like a lifetime ago. I just love the name of the town.
  10. Awsome !! The decor lacing is one of the things i like about you seat Dave. It's as clean as you carving and tooling and it's made me want to learn to lace. On the back piece, on the main opening. The lace will not make a full circle, meaning there will be a start and an end. If at all possible can you show how you start that run and end it. Everthing i've read shows what to do as you meet where you started. I'm really lost of how to make proper looking starts and ends . Did that make any sense??
  11. I'm in Royse (whisle when you hit that "s") City. Your just east of me. There's a guy that lives in Wills Point that does alot of leather work. He has some of his stuff at Canton. I was hoping to run into him the other day when i stopped in at Tandy's in Mesquite. Lucky me he was there. Right know he's staying at home taking care of his Mother-N-Law and doing as much leather work as he can get in. He gave me his number and told me to give him a call anytime i can get out and he'd be happy to show me. I don't know if he'd be open to anyone but if you'de like i'll give him a call and see.
  12. It's hard for me to find any time to do any leather work but, i love it when i do and i've got a thousand things i want to try next. I finally got a new camera , the one i've been using is 7 years old and a 1.3 megapixel. LOL ! Any way i've been itching to make something (Lord knows i need the practice). So i made a case for my new camera. Two things i wanted to work on. One being my basketweave , i've only done it a few times and each time it gets a little better and i notice something i need to improve on. Second i wanted to do a little lacing. My lacing skills are that of a 2 year old tring to tie their shoes. It's far from perfect but it serves it's purpose and still looks better then store bought, to me.
  13. Come on in and get out of the heat. ClayB likes to get up early and eat all the donuts and then act like he didn't get any. There's good peeps here and they all love to share their info and how toos and helpful tips that came with years of does and don'ts . So grab ya a piece of hide and come getcha some.
  14. WOW !! I'm going straight to my local TLF in the morning and punching them all right in the @ss !! That's extremely clean looking and i love the design. I'm starting to think all my leatherworking tools are bent. Yeah that's it, there all freakin bent.
  15. That look freakin sweeett !! What color is that and how did you apply the dye ??
  16. Dude that's freakin awsome. Thanks for takin the time to write it up and add pic. Pics help so so much. How long did it take you to lace it ?
  17. I looked at all the pics , more then once. I haven't read ever thing posted in this thread ( reading is so over rated ) so i'm not sure who designed the art work. My comments are for both, the actual art work and the tooling. It's as simple as simple can get, or so you made it look. While being extremely clean and yet having depth . The lettering is so clean and "vivid" . It just blows me away. I Love It !!! Now. don't even get me started on cookie cutter bikes.
  18. that's very very nice man. Just curios when you fully wrap a seat like that, do you really still need to rivet it to the pan ?
  19. As fast as my eyes could take the picture in, the words came out my mouth, Dang he's gottin good. Not taking anything away from you other works of art. I've been admiring your work for just over a year now when i first saw it on diff biker forums. I must say man, maybe it's just me but i think your skills have really exiled over the last year. Or maybe it's not your skill but the art work your creating , which is still a skill and maybe the most important one. Now I'm gonna go dig a deep hole out back and through my tools and leather in it. Then go soak myself in gasoline and set in the garage and play with matches.
  20. Kate i'm not sure about those colors. They make a "Leather Dye" . "All-In-One" and a " Hi-Lite". Now the all n ones and hi lites, i've seen in colors like sky blue and something red and so on. The all-in-one look like a stain to me . I have not yet tried the HI-Lites which have some wild looking colors. I couldn't tell from outside the bottle what they are. I kept thinking they must be paint but ,all the bottles read "eco-wise, water based product for leather", "Hi-Lite ( add color here) ". Anyway i'm having a heck of a time getting a picture to come out in true color. Lastnite , i think it was ClayB that suggested scanning them. We moved almost 2 monthes ago and i've yet to hook up the scanner. I'm so lazy. LOL ! The rain finaily stopped, so i just grabbed the coaster and walked out in the back and just held them in my hand to snaped a few shots. This is pretty freakin close. Also with it being water based you can "lightlin" it up really easy. The second picture is a case i just did for my sis-n-law. I used a dry brush on the border and a wet one on the rest of it. All done in Timber Brown. All the coasters in the pic are done with a dauber. Sorry this is getting long here. I just really like to hear myself type. Also i hope my attachment is not to big.
  21. Man, i think your hats are wayyyhey cool. Have you ever made a cowboy hat ? I'm think the rocker type of cowboy hat. Where the sides are tightly rolled in and the front and back are hard bent down. Ahh man oh mann..
  22. No pics as of yet. I tried to take a few in the house but with a flash or just house lighting the pics don't come out anywhere near true color. This are the colors i'll be posting. CANYON TAN , RANGE TAN, JAVA BROWN, TIMBER BROWN (I like this color), BISON BROWN, LT MAHOGANY and All-In-One CHOCOLATE CHERRY (which i really like). If i have time i'm gonna stop and grab a few more colors tomorrow. I did 2 piece of each color. One, a piece of untooled scrap applied with a slightly damp sponge and the other, a piece of tooled scrap applied with a wool dauber.
  23. Hello my peeps, what's shakin ? Now dig this, last week or so i grabbed a bag of scrapes at TLF that where mostly coaster. I was thinking they're small and i can tool something fairly fast and get a little practice in, it's been awhile since i've done something and i'm itching too tool. But,,, mostly i wanted to do some dye samples for myself and for when someone wants me to mess some leather up for them, we'll know what color is what. So i did 6 or so and marked them and decided to do more. Well Friday i stop by TLF to get somemore dye rite . Things have been moved around a little i notice. There's this new stuff "eco - Flo" . So i ask Anyway i pick up 7 diff bottles , cause now i gotta make new samples. I figure i'm really just getting started in this ( one year this month, whoohoo ) so i might as well start using this stuff now. No one at TLF had any idea what any of the new named colors looked like. I did some sample pieces tonite and if it's not raining tomorrow i'll take some pics outside for true color and post them so others can get some idea of what they're getting. Mi samples is su samples I used a lightly damped piece of sponge to dye with. Fisrt off i noiticed that it starts to lather up lightly, wierd. That goes away really fast though. The All-in-One i used was way diff, thick, almost like a thined paste. I liked it. Anyway i'll share my tale when i add pictures. Just wondering if anyone else has tried them yet and might have some does and don't or maybe a next time i'll try it like this or that. Holla !
  24. K, i gotta say i spent sometime on the site earlier today when i first saw the link. I was all into the small detailing. It just blows my mind. then i spent like 5 min looking at this picture : http://www.leatherart.nl/nieuw/marlynloos1.JPG Then it hit me that it was a before and after picture of the same piece. LOL i thought it was showing the carving of the picture . LOL
  25. Dang !! That's some tihgt stuff man. Nice find and thanks for sharing. I'll be bookmarking that one.
