  2. Kate , you ROCK !! That was a great write up, thank you so much for taking the time to do that. I love seeing the diff techniques step by step . It really helps a newbie like myself and i'm sure many others , new and old in the craft. Can you believe the nerve of some people, commenting on you giving a coloring how too. When they just colored their leaves and did not show us how they did it. geeze... Plus he ate all the dounuts again.

OK it's nowhere near as nice as Clay 's but,,, it would of been nowhere near as good as is it is without this great step by step how to tutorial. Thanks ClayB !! As soon as i can i'm doing this one again. After doing something you get a better understanding of it. I'm sure i can do better next time. Now that i have a little bit of a feel for it. I want be second guessing myself, like i did with this one. I didn't want to start a new thread just for my leaf either, so i hope no one minds that i just post it here. If so no prob i'll move it. freak

    lifters

I was at TLF the other day and i noticed some new modiling tools. They where black and shaped just a little diff. I made a comment about them and looked at a few and went on with my business. I get home and i have a new 2008 catalog introdutory sale paper. In it i see the "Craftool Pro Modeling Tools" # 8039-05 is a "Samll/Large udercut is for beveling and outlining" for just around $10. One tool with 2 diff sizes. Wish i would of seen that while i was there. ARGGG!!! click here for link to the tool Oh well i'll just have to force myself to run back by there.

  10. I for one love the mixtures of skins. I think you've done it quite nicely. I've seen it done before and i've thought of trying it myself. But, i think one must hit it right on the head for it to come out nice and not just look like to diff types of leather ( did that come out right) and i think you've pulled it off great. Welcome aboard and i look forward to seeing more of your work.

    Freak's Koi

Thank you one and all. It's a good feeling to be able to post on a forums with so much talent as this one. It can be a little intimidating for a greenhorn like myself sometimes. This is the first thing i've done that i really feel good about. Kate you are far to kind and i thank you for it. That's a HUGE complement and i think it just gave me some braggin rights. freak

I've got a guy at work that wants me to try to make him a gun belt and holster and all he wants on it is a few oak leafs. Now i feel like i do oak leafs with my eyes closed, well i feel like i done one without sweeting it now. Thanks again Clay for taking the time to do that . You ROCK !!

  19. Well being a newbie that has just takin off the trainingwheels , i still fall down alot. I saw a few ( very limited) how too on tooling leather online. I still have SOOOO much to learn and try. But i can tell you this my friend. When i first found this place i read for hours just the first nite and it was not as big then as it is now. As soon as i got home the next nite i did it again. I read for about a week before i even posted. There where many threads i bet i read 10 times over. This place was God sent for me. I searched the internet for months before i found this place. What i was able to find was very little help. If i remember right , someplace wanted me to buy a membership to view the site and their how too-s . Well not knowing anything and not knowing what there was to learn or even if i'll like it or be able to do it. I saw no way in #$%&& i'll join there. So needless to say my first projects i feel i was lucky that they even came out. Oh i almost forgot. I would browse diff motorcycle forums and check out the guys that where doing leather work and ask them questions . Beezachoppa was one of the first guys to give me info over at the crossroads. Thanks Beeza !! I've learned TONS of stuff here, tons i tell you. I feel if i have any question no matter how small or of what area of leather work it maybe. I will get a answer here and tips without feeling like a newbie. SO all in all i guest my answer where i first started would have to be "surfing the web" I LOVE THIS PLACE....Drinks for all my friends.
