Thanks for the kind words. So far all that has walked thru my house has seen it and love it. Even my mom and i thought for sure she'd say something about the design but, it seems the wow factor got her. I forgot to add this is the first thing i've done using my new bevels and swivel Knife i got from Berry King . Wow what a difference, i had no idea. I used all eco-flo dye and the gel antique tan (only the 2nd time i got the finish i wanted with the antique ) . Now i'm about to make me a table to work on in my "man room" then i'll start my next one.

looks great man and a great idea of stripping a jacket. And to $4 i trade it out, well if the machine works. Cause i now around it here it's $75 just to get one looked at.

get a hold of Berry King. I picked up one of his knifes last month, wow what a difference. If you like the knife you're using then just get a blade from him but do yourself a favor and get a bevel or two why you're at it. I can't believe what a huge difference a sharp blade and great bevel can make and you'll be amazed to.

Welcome to our madness Daniel. Look forward to seeing some of you work. I think there's a guild that meet once a month at the TLF on NWhwy and Easton.

LOL !!! What is that wrong ? I need to get a picture of his tat to post with this. I used my 40% off TLF coupon yesterday to get roo lace. I cleaned them out and i must say, "WOW !!" what a freakin difference. I'll never go back. Anyway i got it done and now i can't wait to give it to him. Hope I can wait till X-Mas. Now i gotta make one for myself cause this has turned out to be my fav of my projects.

Hey Busted nice work man. I really like them both. Love the design and the use of lace and the color. -
Very nice man. I've thought of something similar and also covering the armrest on the center console of my truck. Nice job man , i'm sure he'll love it !

business card holder
freak replied to JustWakinUp's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
That looks stunning man. Very nice. There's no way i could do work like that if i was just waking up. -
Freakin Thanks. LOL Just a better pic here. I did glue a liner in. Will the smell of glue ever go away and the smell of leather come back ?? I've never lined anything of this size. Mostly just wristband and the smell of glue leaves fairly fast.

checkbooks & wallets

Very nice man. I had to hunt to find the seam . I really like the new look. I can't believe how fast you come up with these. I"ve got time management envy, ok and maybe skill envy too. -
Thank you all very much ! Usually bio-mech designs have way more stuff going on. This is a pretty simply design but was a one off till i put it on leather. LOL !! Thinking back i'de say his tat is about 10 years old . Anyway i got a little time today/tonite and added some color. Hopefully this week i can finish it up. I'll add a few pictures, i was very tempted to leave it natural with the red backing but, went ahead and antiqued. I'll take a better pic tomorrow when i have better lighting. Jim i'm amazed by what tattoo and airbrush artist can come up with when it comes to this style of art. It seems there is no limit and styles can very greatly but still be in the same realm.

I've used them about 6 times now and have only really got a good result once or at least to my liking. Just like Regis said it will darken the whole piece darker then i was ready for. I don't know maybe it's just me but i don't see that it does much for darking the tooled/stamped areas only. They seem to mostly be the same darkness as the it made the rest of it. But in saying that if you add the Tan antique gel to natural un-dyed leather it's a very , very nice color and very even.

I'm making this for a good friend. He's got a tattoo on his leg, his only tat. It's kind of what they call bio-mech design but this was really before they named the design (or so i think). Anyway i've always liked it and thought it would look cool in leather. So i'm making a notebook for him. I have just a little more tooling to do. The design on the right side, which will be the cover is what's on his leg. The back piece is my design to match. I"m really just thinking of antiquing this but, his tat has a little color. If i color the background/inside the circle parts red and then antiq over it, will it still have some shade of red ?? Also without adding a hint of white over that how can i make it appear wet ?
-
Is it lined or did you just dye the back red ?? Nice job. Welcome to the forums !!

Man Kevin,,, That's tight !! It's very clean and i second what Alex said. I really like the way the thread is a diff color , it adds death and detail totally making it a main part of the over all piece. I found i had to keep telling myself that's the stitch line. Well done and thanks for sharing.

I have no idea what double loop means. But i know great work when i see it. Outstanding work man, i love seeing your work !

LOL, it's pretty much the same thing. You know that foam that comes in a can called "stuff" ? They use use it for insulation. I just sprayed some of it out and then painted it so it looks like a big rock. Then once again just use the tool and poke a hole where you want it. My mind goes a hundred miles a minute. I think i really like using something for something diff then what it was made to be used for. When i grow up i want to be a rocket surgeon or maybe a brain scientist .

This is going to be hard to put into words but something i thought of the first time i saw one of your wallets and by no means am i criticizing you're work. And i'm glad you asked this cause i've been wanting to tell you this but, words typed on the internet can come off the wrong way so easy. So please don't take this the wrong way cause i really like your work , i think it refreshing. OK, i would put the seam in the middle of the top or the bottom. Then take another piece of whatever you are using for your border about 2 inches long. Cut the ends back at an angle like, "\ /" and sew that over the seam and then do the same at the other end like you are covering one there so they match. Which would also reinforce the bend, whether it really needs it or not. Like i said not sure i can put that in words , did that make sense ? I can free hand a drawing pretty quick if it will help. Edit : K, fast PS but you can get the just.

OK i need something and i needed it now. My drill press and half of my metal/wood working tools are still in storage. So I stopped at a hobby store and grabbed some of that foam stuff you use to hold flower arrangements with. It was 6 blocks for under $4 and i grabbed a cone shaped one also , just cause i'm a freak yo! You can use the tool it self or anything really to make the holes. I thought i was going to use the drill bit but found it was not needed. And just for kicks i painted it. Still have 5 more blocks to go. LOL !! No tools needed and quick and EZ

I'm with Kate on this one. I really like them and the first thing i thought of was they look like a throw back design. You know like how the NFL teams are wearing their old logos now. Something like that. Dave i love your work man. It was great to see your seat in person and to ( lack of a better term ) man handle it. It was very hard to put it back on the table . I had to keep telling myself, " walk away, just walk away".

How much time would you estimate you spend doing leatherwork?
freak replied to abn's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I'm like most, there is no set or norm for the number of hours i get a week. Sometimes i get mucho time in and some, like most it seems, i get none a week. I try to do what i can on Saturday and hope to finish a piece up at nite thru the following week. If it's raining i'm at home and if i have my to do list done or at a point to where i can take a break from it i do my leather work. I find that many times i can waste all my leather time on just drawing my design, over and over and over and over and over again..... A project always takes twice as long as i think it will all so. What up with that ?! -
Wow !!! That's very nice !! Great work man and thanks for sharing.
