How I started was I got the deluxe beginners kit from tandy a couple of years ago. And now I am finally taking them up on the free tooling classes they give. That is if you buy a beginners kit from them. Its a big help to be able to go into the store and get some help and guidance. Good Luck!!!!

Looks good! But how does it stay closed? -
Well I have been thinking of building a bench for my self to tool on and dye on. As all that I am using now is an old wooden desk. I would like to have a little more room. I have searched and seen all of your guys pictures of your benches, but I didnt see any sizes. (Maybe I just didnt read enough) lol. Anyway, what do you all think would be the best size to make a bench? And at what height? With my idea I have been thinking of making it at two levels. One that I could sit down at and one I could stand up at. But Im not too sure of the height. Any suggestions? Thanks, Chris

Ok here we go if I can figure out on how to post pictures. I quit on this one when I realized that I beveled on the wrong side of the stem.. But any way I took pictures of my swivel knife cuts and on through the beveling. Well half way through that lol.

Thanks guys. I will put a picture up tomorrow. It seems that my batteries are dead in my camera...SO I will definetly post a pic tomorrow.

Hello All, I have been praticing again, now for about a week. And I have pretty much gotten walking the beveler down. And my swivel knife cuts are looking alot better. But my pear shader is off. I cant figure out how in the books it looks like they are getting a wide stripe while I am only getting a narrow one. Well thats with me assuming that they are using the same tools as supplied in the basic 7 kit. Do you guys just do one pass or make 2 next to each other? Also, how deep do you normally go? And with the camoflauge are you supposed to walk that like the beveler or pick it up and move it your self? Thanks, Chris

Hello everyone. I havent been around here lately, actually I think since the big crash. That is if anyone remebers me...lol. Anyway, I still really havent done nothing speacial. Just a couple of belts and wallets. But it still isnt good. At least to my standards. Anyway, is there any one around Beallsville Ohio that would be willing to show me some tips. I do better actually seeing it, rather then trying to learn it from a book. Thanks, Chris
