I always smell it at the supplier before buying...LOL I get like 5 emails a day from Pakistan about buying leather from over there, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN....NO WAY.....NEVER, I could just imagine the smell that would permiate from a shipment from there. Ken
-
Call me weird if you will, but the goat hides that I use to make lace with, I just love the smell of them. They have such a distinct leather smell I just can't stop myself from sniffing every now and again. Ken

Ian, that turned out real nice, and the black color is actually the best I've seen yet. What would happen if you diluted the vinagar a bit before using it as a dye? Or could you use that apple vinagar so the smell is a bit nicer? Ken

Gotta love skulls murse, great job. Ken -
Looks real good Roger, it should weather real nice over time and look even better. What's the indentation on the front from, is it some sort of mounting? Ken

Yes Luke I was refering to linear feet, after reading the dimensions posted, and adding what I think is two 3 foot long straps, there is in the nieghbourhood of 26 linear feet to be laced. If you use 5.5 times the linear length, this would be 143 feet of lace, basically what Mad is using. No matter how you look at it, this is a lot to lace. Also, you are looking at pushing your needle through about 1250 holes, I know what it's like to lace this much. Mad, are you looking for someone to just do the lacing, or are you needing the whole thing cut, carved, tooled, holes punched, dyed and then laced and shipped back to you, with the builder supplying the leather and the lace? Or are you just looking for someone to lace together what you send them already to be laced? This would make a whole lot of diference in someone deciding if they are interested in doing this. Very nice looking bag by the way. Ken

My guess is between 16 and 18 feet of lacing, going on the size of the hand in the one picture. But yes it would be interesting to know how much there actually is. Ken

Awesome looking case Tom, I also really like the handle, and the carved name is such a nice touch. Can we see the way you did the seam on the backside of the tube....please. Thanks for posting. Ken

I'd also say Mexico or Pakistan, China, as much as I would love to get an order to make 15 or 20 of those cases, it would cost you dearly to have me lace them. Good luck in your search. Ken

Kathy, congratulations, you are getting to be so famous. I wonder....was it because you were the first guest on the freal show? Makes ya kinda want to get in line to be a guest. Just like back in the days of Johnny Carson...LOL Ken

Sheridan Tradeshow.
Beaverslayer replied to Elton Joorisity's topic in Special Events, Contests and Classes
Johanna, hats are simple. Go to Wally World, get the BIG box of tin foil. Go home and unroll the whole thing, as you unroll it, tightly wrap it around your head. This will work in a pinch, but for better protection and that awe inspiring look, you will have to break out the tools and lace it together. Hope this helps. Ken -
