Leerworker, very interesting project, I'm impressed with all that you are doing on this. The material you are using for the underside, what may it be? Ken
  2. Chaos, that is the best description of how you did the lettering I have read on this forum. I'm glad it all worked out and that you enjoyed beating a dead cow with a hammer and tool. Hope to see more of your work in the future. Ken
  3. Another great looking suit Azmal, very well done. I'm with Duke on this one also, the gloves are a bit much. Ken
  4. Welcome to the forum Josh, great to have you here. You will be able to learn lots of things from all the friendly and helpful people that show up each day. So many here are very willing to share and help out where they can. Hope you enjoy the place. Ken
  5. Denise, I'll let you guys decide about my head, I remember the last time the tin foil hat left my head, we're still feeling the aftershocks of that escapade. And Johanna would drive to the US/Canada boarder and throw rocks at us if I took the hat off again. Ken
  6. Even when the FR dissapeared all you had to do was re-hit the button and it would come right back up, and all the text you had entered was still there. And the hat was welded to my head by a good welder buddy.....no worries there. Ken
  7. Great looking wrist bands Frog, I knew Spider was inspiring a lot of us. Hope to see more of your Western Cemetery Floral soon also. Ken
  8. You did a wonderful job on the seat Redwinger, very nice and neat stitching. Ken
  9. Welcome to the forum Chaos, you will fit right in as there tends to be a fair bit of chaos here every now and again. Great looking wallet, how did you put the Electro Glide on it? Ken
  10. I like the look of the croc, makes a nice wallet, great job. Ken
  11. Just wondering why all of a sudden the Fast reply button has disappeared. Ken
  12. Luke, what say we charter a big bus and we'll pick everyone up on the way, will this work for you....LOL Great to have such wonderful and helping people here on this forum, we applaud you Luke, and are greatful you are here to share with us. Ken
  13. It's also possible that your basket weave stamping was a bit lighter and not as deep in all places, thus giving you less antique staying in the less deep areas. Ken
  14. Welcome to the forum Mike, great to have you here. I just saw your work in the showoff section, and i have to admit it looks real good. Just one question....how do you stitch with one hand and lace with the other? I believe Spider is wondering the same thing. Ken
  15. Wow Jordan, Taj Mahal, now that takes me back to a time i have a hard time remembering. Ken
  16. I like it Spider, the skull rocks, and that background is way cool. As too the lacing, the way you laced that is the one lace I do not do, I could never get a start or finish that I liked, so I just gave up on it....damned quiters eh. But as always, with practice you'll get it, I just didn't have the patience for it, go figure. Ken
  17. Luke you gotta get out more.....they now have music on CD's and even these little things called MP3 players...LOL Do those 8 tracks still work? Myself. I like the quite solitude of the hammer hitting the tool, or when I'm lacing, the quite gives me time to think and wonder what else to do. Kinda gave up music many years ago for some unknown lost reason. Ken
  18. You do some beautiful work there Dave, love seeing your stuff posted, thanks. Ken
  19. The man that taught me how to carve and tool used a sidewalk block made from concrete, the one that's two feet square. He glued a layer of flooring linoleum onto it and it worked real well. He said he liked it better than granite or marble as there was no "pinging" noise from it when you were working. The linoleum that was on top worked real well if your tool slipped when working close to the edge of the leather, it would just bounce off the linoleum and not get damaged. Ken
  20. Great that you found this wonderful place we all love Rich. You'll find that we are a bunch of really friendly people and always willing to share and help each other out. Hope you enjoy it here. Ken
  21. Great to have you join the forum Cal, looking forward to seeing that wallet. Ken
  22. Great looking seat Roger, the letters and numbers really stand out the way you've double beveled them. What color? Ken
  23. Jam, I use a roller knife and a steel ruler with the cork on the back. The cork will help to hold the elk or deerskin in place and the razor sharp roller knife runs along the straight edge doing a fine job. Here's a picture of the one I use. Ken
  24. cem, yes you can dye the natural roo lace. It will dye up real nicely. What I usually do is to make my laces about an arms length long, then lay down some newspaper, soak a wool dauber in dye and pull the lace under the dauber while slightly pushing on the dauber. Once it has dried you can do it again to darken, or you can then pull it through a soft cloth to give it a nice shiny finish. I've used the Fiebings "Leather Dye" "Pro Dye" and even "Leather Glow". all have worked well. Ken
  25. Great to have you here Sam, would like to see what you've done so far, we always like to see pictures. Ken
