  1. Hey Cal, I'm nowhere near Houston, but if you were to contact the local Tandy store I'm sure they would know of one. Ken
  2. Russell, what I did originally to get the pattern for my "Biker" style vest, was to take an old shirt (denom preferably) have someone wear it and with a felt marker draw out the outline of what I wanted it to look like. Then I un-stitched the whole shirt and cut the pieces where I had marked. From there I transfered the cut shirt to poster board paper. Before cutting the poster board, I used a "French Curve" to make all the edges the same curve and such. This gave me a basic pattern that was a size 42, from there as needed I just add or subtract from the pattern under the arms to make bigger or smaller vests. I did the same thing for my chap pattern with an old pair of Levi's. Also, I have a vest making tutoril here on the forum that may be of some help to you in seeing how the pattern and pieces to construct a vest are designed and layed out. It is under "Show Off" and the thread is "Custom Vest". Any questions, feel free to Pm me or just ask here. Ken
  3. Well thank you Tom, I really appreciate the compliments. Once I shipped this vest to the customer, it was supposed to be delivered the next day by noon. Well our great postal service here in Canada decided to give me and the customer weekend long heart palpations. It was lost unitl late Monday night, after being shipped early Thursday morning. He did get it finally, and was extremely happy with the final product. He is going to send me pictures of him wearing it, and I;ll post them up as soon as I can. On a good note for Canada Post, they did refund all my money for the delay in the shipping. Ken
  4. Tom, you've nailed this down nicely, all the little extras you put into this case all add up to pure elegance for the fisherman. I love the way all the colors compliment each other, and the braided tie down looks so good. Great job Tom, good luck on the next ones. Ken
  5. Krazy Karl would be crazy if he didn't like the looks of that seat Roger. Beautiful work as always, say goodbye to Mr. Cox..... Ken
  6. Welcome back chinkmaker, good to have you return. It was probably cause I lost my tinfoil hat there a while back that you got lost, it's Barge glued down now so you don't have to worry anymore. Hope to see some pics soon. Ken
  7. Curtis, that turned out beautiful, gotta love all that lacing. The liner is a very nice touch, really adds to the look. Glad my tutorial was able to help. Ken
  8. Back in the day when I wore cowboy boots, we always used "Dubin" on them. Not sure if it's still around or not, but I think I read in another post something about it as well. Ken
  9. Jordan, great job on those sandals. How's the feel of that strap around the big toe? Ken PS: Cheeseburgers and sponge cake.......mmmmmmmmmmmm my favs as well
  10. Clay, never be afraid, let us know what you are thinking, so many of us truly value your opinion. And as long as there are no rules about having to plan from the beginning at the ILoFG, then I have nothing to worry about yet. Ken
  11. Twin, I like that idea, unfortunately not on this one. The holea are so close together that if I were to have to pull all that lace out, the silk thread would not fill the hole now. I'm going to remember this though, as I am really liking the Japanese theme, and am thinking of doing some more in this style. Thanks for the sujestion. Ken
  12. Justwakin, your work is getting so good, everything about this is perfect. Please keep posting. Ken
  13. LOL.....you make me laugh, of course the hat is back on....glued down good with Barges. All problems fixed and back to tooling. Ken
  14. As I said, I was not very pleased with the way the one ladies head looked, and it was really bothering me, so out came the knufe, and I simply cut her out....simple as that. I then drew up what I was looking for, and figured I just lace it in, it seems to have worked out okay. I like the look a whole bunch more now, and it's given me another idea for the front yolks. So let me know what you all think of the piece that almost made it to the scrap bin, I've finished tooling both sides, and laced the new lady in, now I've got to draw up something for the front, then back to tooling. Ken
  15. Well I went ahead and said to myself, better try and see if your idea is going to work and look good before you go and finish tooling. So here's what I did to the shoulder piece, makes ya kinda cringe don't it? Yikes, now what are we going to do with this hole? Ken
  16. Roger, you have to tell Krazy Karl that black is an outlawed color for such fine workmanship. This seat is exceptional. Ken
  17. Johanna, I figured it happened when I took of the tinfoil hat to have a shower the other day, well pretty sure that's what it was. So anyways, I logged on with Firefox and did throw out that bad batch of cookies, they were very stale anyways. So now, I guess I'm just going to have to waterproof the hat, can't see any other way around this. Ken
  18. countyman, welcome to our little corner of the net. Here is your chance to take up a new hooby to go with your pipe collecting. Those would be very easy to make yourself, with the purchase of just a few basic things from Tandy Leather. All you would need is a few lengths of Latigo strap, a small hole punch, a bag of rivets and a setter. This way, as your collection increases, you are able to just whip a holder together and away you go. Now if you got creative and purchased some veg tan leather, some carving tools, you could learn to do some very nice pictures or designs on them, and really make your collection POP. Just an idea mind you. There are many people here that would be very willing to help you to learn what you needed to do. Ken
  19. Azmal, how can you call that "Standard"????? It's STUNNING, the work you put into these is amazing. Thanks for stopping in and showing us. Ken
  20. Tina, beautiful work, the tooled piece, the colors, the concho and beads, they all work so well together on this. Great looking purse. Now get back to the work space and make some more to show us. Ken
  21. Very nice looking Storm. Is that so you can hide what your drinking? Ken
  22. Spider.....you are getting so good at those skulls, I'm really really liking them. Tomorrow I'll post a few pics of my trip this last weekend, I took a special one just to get some pics I thought you might enjoy. Ken
  23. Thanks a lot everyone. I'm almost done the tooling on the other side, so as soon as that's done I'll upload an update pic. There is most likely going to be a bit of a change on the lady in the middle, I don't really like the way she turned out, so I think I've come up with an idea. If that doesn't work......well it'll be the scrap bin and I'll have to start over. Scouter, when it's ready for color, I'll be using a fair amount of latex resist, and then airbrush the background, then I'll color the trees and dragons and such seperately, should look good as long as my new idea works out. Thanks again for the compliments. Ken
  24. Roo....lying to your children Other than that tpough, great looking mask as always. Ken
  25. Regis, I'm not using a booth, but I believe simple physics would dictate that if your air brush is putting out 1 cfm and your hood fan is doing the same, all will work good. Ken
