Custom Deer Wallet
abn replied to tg lucas's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Wow. Truly great carving and coloring. Those are hard skills to master, but I'd say you've got them down pat. Congrats! -
Welcome! Be sure to post some pics of your work!

Right after reading this post, I made my annual donation. I much prefer to have members of LW.net tell it like it is, and I'm certainly willing to support this site with my hard-earned dollars to make sure it remains that way.

I agree 100% with Ferg. I've worked in a basement for five years now, and store my leather there. I have a dehumidifier that I run at 40% but only need to do so during the warm months (May through October).

Amen! That's a fine rig... Congrats! -
Jim, welcome to LW.net. I was very impressed with your web site and the work you display there. Keep it up!

Hyde, I can commiserate. Black is a tough color to get right, and even if you've had good results in the past, every so often a certain project will cause problems. FWIW, I agree with your decision not to attempt to strip off what's already been applied. I think there's a good risk it'll ruin your project. I also agree with Mike's advice to try olive oil or another condition to see if it'll even out the color and finish for you. If all else fails, try to redye, but honestly -- I think I'd just try to touch up the problem spots and buff -- not redye the entire seat. That should be the last resort. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you're able to salvage this! Let us know how it works out.

Messenger Bag

Very neat. I really like the Levi's theme, plus the use of rivets throughout the bag. -
I'm also a fan of olive oil. Here's a recent thread on the subject: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=27237 And for more reading... http://www.bing.com/search?q=site%3Aleatherworker.net+%22olive+oil%22

Eric, welcome to LW.net. There are plenty of folks here that share your enthusiasm for making holsters, and I'm sure would be glad to answer questions. Welcome aboard!

Amazing. What really stands out to me is the choice of complimentary shades of color. Plus, the surface decoration is unparalleled. Two thumbs up!

More Wallets. Biker And Credit Card
abn replied to azrider's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice work! I especially like the stamped pattern of your third image. Where did you get the four-pointed star stamp and the half-flower stamp? They aren't Craftools, are they? -
Wow. That's definitely work to be proud of. Nice job!
