  1. yaklady, thank you.... yes after it was done, i was not happy. i do have another one and i have ordered Wickett & Craig chestnut color leather. small pcs of work & dark color one can get away with flub ups. But large pcs are trouble.

  5. i'll post this weeks work here. it will be self explanitory the color is tandy all in one med brn. with a coat of leather balm on it.sorry about the smuges. but things happen. (regis, well do i keep the tools or get rid of them)

    tracy it turned out better than good. that is very classic. there will be some sound difference in the acoutics of the before and after the covering of an acoustic guitar. But covering the body of an electric guitar there is no change of the sound. I have always liked the looks of Waylon Jennings guitar.....

  10. this has happened to me before. completly re -thread the machine, re wind a bobbin and start all over. from the photo it looks to me like, top tension needs to be tighter or bobbin tension need to be losen up so the top thread can pull the bottom thread up into the leathers.... it can be confusion some times.

  12. scouter, i use a #2 or #4 most of the time for my sheaths . they are from 5-6 oz to 7-8oz

  14. Grumpy just a thought .... are you tapering the end of thread that you are putting thru the eye of the needle? maby put a larger stiching hole in the item you are sewing.
  15. regis... i would line it also.... do like abn said or go thru the scrap box and look for some 2-3 oz. calif. that would stiffen it up. then you can mold the gun to the holster...

  17. HELP................... HAVING A RUSH ORDER TO FINISH.......... i made a photo copy of a pattern that i am tracing onto the leather and was being very careful...and.....got a small SMUGE of ink-jet ink on the damp leather.. what might i get it off with..............

  22. Timbo when you moulded the cases did you make a wood form to do your molding ? I have been asked to do 24 Zippo lighter cases. I started cutting out the wood today.

Thank you Regis.. strange tidbit of information.... a short time after receiving this hide to start working on there was an item in the newspaper about africans contacting strange diseases while working on animal hides there... The Doctor assured me that these hides were tanned in the approiate way!
