  1. VHS by John Bianchi, "Advanced Western Holster Making," this is a 3 Volume Set VHS format, 300 Minutes. First rate instructional video/audio - $30.00 - pm if interested.
  2. Josh that's an excellent rig, looks good too. The first time I saw that design was circe 1965, by Bucheimer. I don't know if you put stiffeners in there but the original Bucheimers had heavy pieces of wire that create some spring tension ... anyway, Nice Work!
  3. You said ... [ Especially when carrying inside the waist band. ] ... so one assumes you're talking IWB. Belt tension will provide all the retention you need. Stay away from that pancake desigjn, install a stiffener in your mouthband, either metal or polymer. Use pull-dot snaps. Google "summer special for revolver" and you'll find pics. If you want the fat roll protector incorporate that into you design. You don't need thumb breaks or retention straps for adequate retention. I don't have a photo handy, but there were lots of them when I googled - all based on the late Bruce Nelson's Summer Special.
  4. Wearing tri-focals drove me crazy because the small intermediate part of the lens was where I needed to position to see. I went to a single lens pair of glasses that put me in the right focus plane so I don't have to crane forward to find my focal plane. For what it's worth. ~Bill
  5. The rivets on the Burton are called burr rivets. Just about any leathercraft supply will have them: LF, Ohic TB, Springfield, etc. Ideally you need the proper tool to do a nice job and you need to practice setting a few before you try to install them on you production. LF has or had an inexpensive tool and you can spend a ton of money of one, but the bottomline is skill with your tools and you can't buy that. Here's the LF page: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/product/copper-rivets-burrs-11280-006.aspx .... and this page is probably the best money can buy: http://www.sheridanleather.com/Douglas_Tools_s/1632.htm?searching=Y&sort=3&cat=1632&show=10&page=2 When I look at that tool I see an old cold chisel modified to do another job: https://www.google.com/search?q=copper+burr+rivets&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS605US605&es_sm=93&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=WBSwVNKzBIGvyATg54C4DA&ved=0CIABELAE&biw=1536&bih=764 Those other rivets in you post are some sort of double cap. The one on the left was probably shaped in that format by the setting tool. I'm not sure I posted these links correctly. Contact me if you have more questions. Hopefully this will help. ~Bill
  6. I use an old 8mm, 1/4 drive socket instead of That tool. It slips over the button and rests on the shoulder of the shaft. Whack it and you are done. You may get away with what you're describing, but run the risk of making it ugly.
  7. I use those fishing tackle like trays; they have lids and are stackable.
  8. The press that Andy recommends is the ideal setup for the monet.
  9. I use a 9 lb. dead blow hammer. Have also used a press - driven by 6 ton hydraulic jack, but the dead blow is quick and easy.
  10. Thanks Dwight, I'm just trying to do some organizing.
  11. I know I don't need to be in that sector and won't delete those kinds of things. The mess I'm trying to organize is on a ext. HD, just files, folders and jpgs from 3 different computers - saved over the last decade or so - it may be better to just let it remain a mess, pigeon hole it for a few years and then deep six it. I'll look at the WinDirStat for a few more days before I quit it. I appreciate the help.
  12. Wow ... *.* brings up 0ver 7,000 somethings: .log, .dat.. .psf, .itl, .itdb, .ipa, .exe, .one, and slew of zip files, then some docx, and jpgs, but they aren't alphabetical. I know what docx and jpgs and pdfs are, but I'm clueless to the others. Never did see a dog???
  13. Is there a program that will find duplicate files, folders and jpgs and combine and/or delete them? Any help is appreciated. ~Bill
  14. Johanna, sounds cool. What would it entail? I will have to present it to the BOD. There are about 350 members. Only a small portion of them can wade through the yahoo join group thing; they're mostly seniors and find the internet a challenge. There's no hurry, when you have time. We appreciate you!!! ~Bill
  15. Is there a forum or email group besides yahoo groups that would provide the same privacy as yahoo groups? I need a format so that the internet in general cannot access the message board. Free would be good, but not mandatory. This is for a gun club and members sometimes advertise items for sale and include their phone numbers, therefore, the need for privacy. Thanks in advance for replies. ~Bill
  16. Good job. That'll work for that design sheath or holster.
  17. I always shorten the prongs of the t-nuts before I install them; just clip them with a pair of farrier nippers or wire cutters (dikes, dykes, diagonal pliers, whatever you prefer to call them) and you won't have them poking through the leather. If you're making an IWB like the Bruce Nelson Summer Special you don't want the t-nut marring the gun's finish.

    Chrome

    Disregard. Figured it out
  19. Thanks Kevin, that's exactly what I need. Bill
  20. Thanks Lobo. What I want are about 3 dozens male studs like the one with the circle around it. I've come up short and the 1000s of male Line 24s I have on hand are to big for the Pull the Dot snaps I have one hand. I can work the Line 24s down with emery cloth but it hardly worth the time unless I'm in a real jam. Somewhere on LW I think I saw a source; it was years ago, probably before one of the crashes; at least I couldn't find it. Again thanks for reply. Bill
  21. Does anyone know of a source for the "male" part (see pix) of Pull the Dot snaps?
  22. KinkyCrafts by Lady Green with Jaymes Easton, Greenery Press (paperback 2nd edition) 99 Do-it-yourself s/m toys - $25.00, shipped 1st class, lower 48 only - like new copy. ISBN# 0-9639763-7-0 Message me if interested.
  23. OK, I install CutePDF writer and the recommended converter again. Can't get it to work. This time it installed an icon of the desktop but that does nothing but open an installation wizard and just runs the setup again. It also brought with it another icon FreeCause.com, not sure what this thing is. I clicked a jpg of a piece of paper with text that I scan but can't find CutePDF Writer like I did last time. I went to Adobe Reader and it open any pdf file I try but it will not print the pdf. Clicking print brings a popup window: Adobe Reader has stopped working.A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. There a button to close the window, or an X upper right. Nothing happens if you wait except the hour-glass cursor is running and running and running. Clicking the close button closes the little window and no solutions are offered no matter how long you wait. Seems to be worse this time that last. Any ideas?
  24. I was able to convert the jpgs to pdfs and view them in Adobe Reader. They looked ok so I sent them. I couldn't figure out how to print them; I just wanted to test drive that side hoping to make sure the receiver would be able to print them if needed. Adobe wouldn't print any pdf, even old ones I had. I could print from Word, Excel, Notepad without problem so the print worked as before; not so with Adobe Reader. I uninstalled CutePDF and Adoabe Reader starting printing, even the converted pdf; not sure what I did wrong. After the uninstall, when I tried to print from Notepad I would get a window to choose my printer or CutePDF. Not sure about that since it was uninstalled. In frustration I did a restore back a couple of weeks. I've almost got all my updates done. Takes a few hours as you know. After I get everything cleared up and defrag it I'll try again and see what happens. This contract will more than likely be going back and forth over the course of several weeks to a month, so I need the thing. This morning I got confirmation that they received it and I assume it was ok, as they did not complain. Again many thanks for the help. ~Bill
