  1. I have a number of Leathercraft Library files that I would like printed in large format. I am no where near a kinkos and I would rather have them printed by someone I know. one particular file I need printed says the full size is 28"x 44".
  2. I was wondering if anyone has or uses a plotter. I would like to print some of my LCL patterns on a large format machine. My city doesn't have a service that can do that...
  3. bug bites and or range marks... yep yep. Embrace them and make them part of your design.
  4. I agree with Itch. To further protect the machine, go to home depot or lowes and get some of that polystyrene sheathing in the 1.5 inch thickness. Cut pieces to wedge under the harp and around the entire head in your plywood box. It's light weight, about $30 a sheet and is easily cut with a kitchen knife or saws-all.
  5. A teacher pointed at me with a ruler and said "At the end of this ruler is an idiot." I got detention when I asked "Which end?"

LOL, I'm a teacher, I love that one....but I think I would have given them the mop and said go ahead and clean the shop floor;)

  6. Biggest I've ever seen online is 3". However, if you have a blacksmith near you it might be worth your time to go talk to him. He may be able to make one for you.... just a thought.
  7. Check the shuttle for a burr
  8. Have you gone to see it lately Solo? I hear from some here that Consignments are not the way to go because they get shop worn. I would pull it and sell it on Etsy or Ebay.
  9. Here is what I would do. Find an 8.5x11 pattern. Print 2. tape them together so that a portion of one sheet is 3 inches past the other. you may have to manipulate the pattern a bit to make it flow from one sheet to the other.... that is where your drawing talent will be challenged a bit. Figure out where you want your clear space and the size and shape. Print an example of that (like a scroll, banner, etc) and place and tape that on your other two sheets. Then lay a sheet of tracing paper over the top... trace a new pattern to use on the leather. Adjust the tracing as needed for the flow between the first two sheets.
  10. 404, page cannot be found.
  11. You are welcome. That's the one good thing about these old Singers... The company that owns singer is keeping the archive available for these old machines. There are gaps in the materials but most of them are available.
  12. in my opinion you would sell them faster individually... or in small sets. It's been my experience that most people expect a deal when you sell in a lot like that. Also someone interested in the press may not want to have to deal with 100 chap dies... especially if they plan on doing holsters or or wallets...
  13. If it were me I would sell the Dies separately from the clicker. I can't help on the pricing... it depends on the condition of the machine and the price a buyer is willing to pay.
  14. Ok, here is one tutorial that might help. It's made from soft leather and I don't care for the way he did the stitching. http://artofmanliness.com/2011/02/24/weekend-diy-project-how-to-make-a-leather-wallet/ Here's another tutorial. For a more common type bi-fold. yeah yeah... I know you said pattern..... There are several in in the PDF for "billfolds" here. http://elktracks.net/free-patterns.html
  15. Ok. let me look for a bit.
  16. Let me make sure we understand what you want. You want a western floral like what some call Sheridan? You want an all over pattern? Did you check out Leathercraftlibray.com under the free stuff?
  17. LOL they are all men's wallets.... silly bugger.
  18. What kind of stabilizer did you use? The sticky back stuff? How heavy... inquiring minds want to know. Also did you have any troubles with the leather flapping in the machine... causing loops on top?
  19. What kind of wallet, biker/trucker, bi-fold, tri-fold, mystery?
  20. Exaustapated: Too dang old and too dang tired to give a crap.

It's actually Exhausted and Constipated. I think I misspelled... But you got the idea. Nothing happened, except that it snowed all day yesterday and my heater that I ordered the 29 of December was just now shipped and won't be here until the 14th IF the weather doesn't interfere

  21. LOL yeah I know. You would have to just give it to me to make it worth it.
  22. Most of these require the bobbin while sitting in the case with the bobbin facing you to unspool counter clockwise (anti-clockwise). Meaning that when you draw the bobbin thread from the case, the bobbin will spin anti-clockwise Here's a service manual for a 29u-XXXX Most of the information should work for you. (it also has a better picture of the bobbin going into the case http://www.parts.singerco.com/IPsvcManuals/29U171A_172A_173A.pdf Here's a parts list that might help some too. http://www.parts.singerco.com/IPpartCharts/29-4.pdf Hey... why don't you send that to me. I love old heavy singers.
  23. things to check are... make sure the bobbin is un-spooling in the correct direction (yes it makes a difference). Always make sure the presser foot is in the up position when you thread the machine. And make sure it is threaded correctly.... not what you think it was but what the manual says. LOL
  24. lol That ukulele he has is worth more than most guitars on the market. I agree that high G strung ukuleles sound crappy.
