  1. Very good find, if its not rude, how many and how much.
  2. Thank you for the tute Frank.I only just purchased this stamp and have been having a little trouble with it and I noticed the same thing with your stamping. Where the base of the stamp meets I am getting the little double impression if you understand what I mean. I was thinking if the ends were slightly rounded off would it cure this. Does this bother any body else or is there another way to do it .
  3. Hi Johanne,i know jack squat about horses but I do have a couple of harness and saddler books I have picked up.Looking thru them I see a couple that look similar. One is called a Weymouth and the other is called a Pellham. That may give you a start on something to look for.

  8. Hi Steve, what would be the going price for a 29k71 or the 132k6.i have a lead on both these machines but am wary of the price.Just a rough top price would be good, both are supposedly in good nick. These are in WA.Thanks mate.
  9. Why not just replace the jaws with wood?
  10. Hi rbrooks,i am using coates dabond 138 thread and a 160/23 leather point needle at the moment.i will be contacting Darren at Able bonneys locker later to get some more needles and thread plus some extra bobbins.pay careful attention which way you thread thru the tension discs as they get touchy about the tension.i think also my bottom tension spring is a bit iffy so that may be replaced soon.Other than that they are a great machine laying down a good stitch.

  13. Good think'n shtoink,i also was thinking of using an old singer sewing machine motor and having some wood wheels made up.you got me thinking with the old treadmill motors and controllers would they be strong enough and fast and slow enough for sewing with my singer 45k25.??? Thinking thinking thinking.
  14. Ok thank you both of you.i may build a small test belt and and try a couple of different methods but i think the airbrush with the waproo highshine sealer may be the way to go.Peter
  15. hi ,i did buy buy lace from JLD and no problems, good quality stuff and you can see it in my post in "how do i do that" under buck stitched belt.Being in Aus all though 4000 ks away on the other side worked ok for me but can understand hesitance from overseas. Peter.
  16. Hi,i have built this belt for a mate and am at the final stage but i am a bit worried about the finish as i dont want stain to bleed into the white roo lace.Any ideas welcome. The order of build was 1. case 2 edge 3 stamp 4 light application of neatsfoot 5 air brush dye with waproo raven oil brown 6 slick down the back with 50/50 waproo highshine sealer 7 burnish edge with water/saddle soap and beeswax mix 8 wax the belt and polish 9 cut slits and lace with white roo hide.. Should i just leave as is or what do you suggest to finish? Thank in advance

  19. Hi Darren, what needle system does this use and what thread/needle combi,s work with these machines.it does mark the leather up a bit top and bottom,i know of grinding the dogs down but what would be the best for the top?Using presser feet!Thank.you.
  20. Hi,just showing off my new/old singer 45k25 i recently purchased for the princely sum of $50.The needle bar was rusted and seized, after a bit of rubbing with fine wet and dry paper she freed up and sewed so so.i also pulled off the tension discs and gave them a polish up as well. After oiling all the points and rehoming the spiders under her i have been playing in my shed all morning. Also i had to remove the shuttle and race and give that a clean up. i filled the bobbin, re adjusted the tensions top and bottom and gave her another whirl. In a word-beautiful.With about 8mm of oil tanned leather in it it just punched thru it like nothing with just hand wheeling. Now i just have to get that battle ship grey of her and bring her back as a black beauty. Also check out the serial number,i think its only 3 off the machine Devin posted about a couple of months back. His is in Sweden i think and mine is in Perth,Western Australia.
  21. The guy who made it is in New South Wales in Aus.He does it for a hobby and prefers to trade goods than money.he is a member of another bushcrafting forum i go on.
