  1. Hi I'm in the USA but I make strap goods primarily. Guitar straps, belts, dog collars. I could make you some straps. You can check out my etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/DoubleCCowgirl to see some of my work or the gallery here http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&user=27490 If I can be of any help let me know. Cheryl
  2. I've never used a clutch but my servo will walk with very little practice. Cheryl
  3. I use seam tape too and you just leave it. A little harder to get lined up for me than glue though Cheryl
  4. Ray ours is pretty big, like a carnival every week Yeah they were fun to make and thank you for commenting. I am having some success there as more and more people find out I'm there. I really do enjoy it most of the time. Cheryl
  5. Two projects I finished up today for the farmer's market tomorrow. Not big items but 25.00 worth of stuff for very little materials, although we won't talk about time Cheryl
  6. I need some suggestions if you have time please. I'm feeling not very creative today and finished this bat up yesterday and need it for the Farmer's Market tomorrow. It's going to be a hair holder, the type with the stick going through holes. I can't decide whether to vinegaroon it, paint the bat and dye the rest or dye all of it. Girl wasn't specific except she wanted it flying. Thanks in advance, Cheryl
  7. When I made mine I used a medium priority mail box as a pattern but left the flap natural http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=galleryℑ=17298 The hardest part about doing this will be putting it together in the right order. For example the shoulder protectors on before you affix the snaps to the should strap. Things like that. The handle is a simple design where they used a piece of leather sewn together in the middle after putting in on the D rings, then sewing the top piece on around that to hide the sewing. Sewing is strange, some you want to hide and some is decorative. The sewing detail on this bag is what will drive you nuts but you could make a perfectly good bag without all the decorative sewing. Write out a list of steps and check it over several times to make sure you have them in the right order. After the bag is cut, sew the back pocket on before you put it together. Sew the buckles on before you do the gusset....things like that are what's important. I hope this helps, Cheryl
  8. Dave I think this is an excellent question and one I'd like to know too because I'm so disorganized. My lead time is usually only a couple of weeks but I have a hard time keeping everything organized for my projects, and this wastes a lot of time. Which is more stressful making me more disorganized. It's a vicious cycle and one I've tried to work on for months now. So hopefully some people will have some ideas. Cheryl

  10. I think you could get asway from the problem if you used veg tanned leather like the jean companies and applied several coats of finish on both sides. Saddles, rifle slings, purses, all kinds of things get wet and don't destroy or self-destruct. I would Buy Herman Oak Veg Tanned, quality dyes like fiebings in a medium tan (which has red coloring to it and actually looks red/orange and seal it several times with resolene and let it dry well in between the finish coats. Use your resolene 50/50 water and apply several light coats and try that. At Springfield Leather Company you can buy just one sq ft of HO so you won't be out a lot of money while you practice the technique. And use the SAME t-shirt LOL with the practice pieces sewn different places so you don't go broke. Also if you could deal with black leather, you could use vinegaroon on the HO and I'm pretty sure after buffing and drying, with the resolene finish it wouldn't bleed. Cheryl PS I'm not leather god, just a smuck learning like everyone else.
  11. Oh sorry braymond, I see what you mean now. I misunderstood. Yes they are expensive. I think what Russ said would work. Cheryl
  12. the ones I've seen are already finished off, all the edges bound. What more were you wanting to do to them? What do you do to your other interiors? Cheryl
  13. OK I just wasted 36 snap tops putting two snaps on two different items. I had a snap on one but snapped and unsnapped it so many times it came apart. However, this is going to hold keys so I don't want to cut corners. I'm wishing right now snaps had never been invented, LOL

I think I bought mine on some promo deal for under 100. I use it for snaps and eyelets and have yet to have any issues.

  15. I can tell you just from what I marked mine up the ones at Saddleback are marked up a lot. I just went and checked and looked at the pouch for $129.00. It's 6" x 8" so roughly a sq ft and 1/2 of leather. And it has a strap and rivets, and a toggle close. I made mine out of chrome tanned and it's 18" x 13" and has chicago screws and a toggle close. It has embossed veg tanned on the inside for dividers and to add shape to the bag. It has a stamped strap on it to match the leaves I made and sewed on the front and back because the gusset didn't get 'caught' all the way through so I disguised that with a leaf, and sewed one on the other side to make it looked planned. Also my strap has a sliding foam filled shoulder protector from matching materials. I know I don't have $30.00 in the total bag but since they are a big project I sell mine starting at $125.00. They sell something that clips onto one of their bags like mine to stick your phone in for 129.00? You could use the finest leather available and hardware and not have $100.00 in one of their bags they sell for 500+. So it's really just up to you to decide if you want to put the work into it because this one http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=galleryℑ=17298 was my first and took almost two weeks to complete working on it some everyday. I learned as I went along and fortunately didn't mess up anything that couldn't be fixed. Cheryl
  16. The painting you did on this is incredible, thought you had taken a class. I can't wait to see the finished holster. Cheryl
  17. If I was doing it, I'd take a 1/4" off the side down as far as I wanted with the strap cutter, flip it around to the back to take it off the other side and use a utility knife and square to get the angle. Not sure how easy all that is Cheryl
  18. Double U, I can't see any extra paint and think it's great. Cheryl
  19. I think you did a great job on both Milton. I don't make my ends like that, the small end I mean but there's nothing wrong with the way you did it. Cheryl
