I always finish my leather with resolene. Use it 50/50 with water and apply light coats. A lot of people use fancy things to condition their leather but I just use bag balm. Cheap and has the same lanolin in it most other conditioners have. If the bag gets dirty I would just recommend water wipe off, or maybe saddle soap and water followed up by conditioning. The condition on a bag shouldn't be necessary over once a year I wouldn't think. Cheryl

Hi Yffuda. The gusset attaches to the bottom the same way it attaches to the sides. I made my first messenger bag out of chrome tanned but if I make another it will be out of veg tanned. I hope this helps. Cheryl

that's a 4 strand round braid. The strands were put over the ring and started. Youtube has some great videos on round braiding. Cheryl

You need to reduce the size of your files to upload them in whatever photo program you have. On a belt for example you make your bead work longer that the inlay hole and at both ends of the hole skive a 'shelf' under the veg tanned to put the beads so they lie evenly along the belt. Most people sew them in at this point after putting a liner behind them to sandwich them in. I'm sorry you could post your pics, I imagine they are nice. Cheryl

I don't think it is the glue as much as the suede. I would try gluing it to veg tanned for behind the inlay or just glue the front edges to the inlay hole edges and sew it first and then sew your liner. Barge is very difficult to work with. Cheryl

Hi Jaclynn maybe fishing wire would work too and be almost invisible. But I like the silver wire showing a bit. As far as not being able to sew on tack, I sewed patent leather to a 1/2 inch dog collar http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=galleryℑ=22168 but I will admit it took three tries Cheryl

Hi Jaclynn. I can see the wire they used so you're right. Then after attaching them in the back they attached a liner to keep the wire from being against the horse. I imagine they did the same with the concho, attached it first then added the liner. I've never done it so I can't tell you the best way but I can see from the picture that's how it was done. Cheryl

Hi Adam. The appropriate time is before stitching. You use it 50/50 with water in light coats when all forms of coloring are done except antiquing. For antique you apply the resolene first as a resist, let it dry well, antique, let it dry well and then add more resolene. On the suede if it touches it, it will probably peel right off. I apply my leather conditioning after the resolene but some people apply a conditioner first. I hope this helps, Cheryl
